July 2017
Dear Holy Rosary School Families,
On behalf of the faculty and staff, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year! This
summer newsletter
has information you need to prepare for the school year.
Fr. Roberto and I, along with the faculty, have taken time to pray and reflect on the needs of Holy Rosary School. We are implementing several changes that we believe will serve our community while providing a rigorous Catholic education for our students. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children's success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. Together we will work in assuring that all the students have high academic expectations, a love of God, and the guidance to understand who they are and what they can contribute to the world.
We welcome Mr. Tim McCain as a part-time Music Director. He is also the Music Director for Holy Rosary Church. He will be leading our school choir, directing all the student masses and special events, and working with the student body. Mrs. Hamade, Spanish, is now full-time, teaching Spanish Pre-K to 8
th
Grade.
I wanted to take this time to share transitions that are occurring at Holy Rosary School that affect our community. At the close of the school year, we evaluated our enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year. Based on enrollment,
we had to restructure our support staff team in a way that would best serve all the students and still maintain the integrity of our curricular program. We could not guarantee full-time positions or part-time positions for staff members, some who have been at Holy Rosary for more than 10+ years. We would like to honor and thank Erma Desimone, Charmaine Espina, Paul Faletti, Rachel Garcia, Dena Lachney, Judith Mercer, Karen Rael, Michael Santa Maria, and Dolores Voight for their many years of service to the students and the community of Holy Rosary School. This one sentence does not do justice to their years of commitment to your children. We are grateful for all they have done to support Holy Rosary School and we wish them the very best.
The restructuring also affects our classrooms. After prayerful consideration to all the factors that go into planning a new school year, it was decided that changing the classrooms was necessary to rejuvenate the site and the teachers. Therefore, junior high classrooms swapped with the primary grades. The first hallway is now the Junior High Wing - hosting 6
th
and 7
th
Grades. Junior High Literature and 8
th
Grade will be in the portables. Kindergarten, 1
st
, and 2
nd
Grades are now in the second hallway with 3
rd
, 4
th
, 5
th
, Math Lab, Science Lab, and Library/Media Center. The convent building is also undergoing restructuring with the opening of a preschool learning center in addition to our Pre-Kindergarten classroom.
We are excited about the new school year and the opportunities we have planned for our students. We ask for your prayers and have faith that 'With God all things are possible' (Matthew 19:26). This is far more than the power of positive thinking. It is the power of God that makes what seems impossible possible. "Nothing is impossible with God" (Luke 1:37).
In partnership,
Mrs. Fajardo
Interim Principal
