ANNOUNCEMENT from Wendy Batiste-Johnson, General Manager:
"I am delighted to share that Beth Woerner (Marketing Director) has been promoted to National Sponsorship Sales Director for our company - as many of you know from working with Beth, she is a dedicated Marketing professional who has been an asset to The Mall at Partridge Creek and our local community. Although she will be missed, we are proud of her and excited for her new role.

Additionally, I am equally thrilled to share that Jennifer Kincaid (Marketing Coordinator) has been promoted to Marketing Director for The Mall at Partridge Creek. Jenni has been a Retail Marketing professional for more than 10 years and has been an instrumental part of our successful marketing program at the mall. Many of you have already worked with Jenni and are familiar with her creativity and strong work ethic, we are excited for her to lead our Marketing & Partnership program forward.

Please join me in congratulating Beth and Jenni on their well-deserved promotions."

MEMBER TIP:
Are You a Good Communicator?
Ask customer care providers what they do and they'll list dozens of tasks from answering the phone, taking orders, building relationships, paperwork, to resolving issues and problems. These are certainly critical aspects of any customer care positions. But if we boil the job down to its bare essentials, one definition I've always preferred is "Professional Communicator."
Customer care providers spend almost their entire day having conversations with external and internal customers. They're communicators, pure and simple. They need to get information, process that information and then disperse information. They need to ensure they understand and are understood. Communication is a way to convey emotion, urgency, empathy, and appreciation.

The Sterling Heights Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking for potential candidates for our open board of directors positions. We are currently seeking board seat nominations for three-year terms covering 2018 - 2020, and we invite qualified members to run for a seat on our board of directors. Serving on the Chamber's board of directors is a great way to become more engaged with the organization, connect with the regional business community and stand out as a leader among your peers.

Current Directors whose terms expire in 2017 are Clark Andrews, Dan Felstow, Brent Freeman, Terri North, Barbara Rossmann, Gary Tedesco, Jeff Vollmar and Mike Weiss. We currently have no vacant seats, so we will be filling eight (8) spots to three-year terms.

Eligible directors and qualified members with an interest in serving on our board can submit nominations for consideration by our Nominating Committee. Please contact Chamber President Melanie Davis at 586.731.5400, ext. 22 or [email protected], for more information and to obtain the necessary application.

WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH SOME "THINGS!"
Just like membership support, donations of "things" are very important to our Chamber. A significant portion of our operating revenue comes from events, raffles and more. So we're seeking donations for prizes for our annual $10,000 Reverse Raffle on Friday, Oct. 13 at Shelby Gardens in Shelby Township. We would greatly value your donation of an item to add to our "pick-a-prize" raffle or serve as a prize for one of our many card games that evening. In exchange for your donation, you'll be listed as a prize donor in our event promotions, in the program book and on screen at the event - not to mention our extreme gratitude!

If you're willing to help us with some "things," please contact Linda Colton at 586.731.5400, x20.

Thank you for your consideration!

INVEST IN OUR FUTURE, BE A HOST!
Macomb County is coordinating its fourth annual celebration of MFG Day on Friday, October 6. Last year, thanks to the willingness of 53 great companies to get involved, more than 1,700 high school students visited plants and learned about career opportunities. Will you join us as a host site?
MFG Day is a national celebration of modern manufacturing and the great  careers it offers. It provides an opportunity for manufacturers to inspire the next  generation of our workforce to consider a career in the industry.  Macomb County will host one of the nation's largest coordinated efforts.

M-59 RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT UPDATE FROM MDOT:
We have begun paving hot-mix asphalt (HMA) on the outside lanes of WB M-59. If all continues to go as planned, we will be able to switch traffic to the outside lanes on WB (similar to the way that traffic is on EB) by this Saturday. As with EB, you will notice a 1.5 inch bump where we will come back at the end of the work this year to place the top layer of HMA (known as the wearing course).

Along with the switch on Saturday, we are planning to begin the second stage of the Hayes work on M-59. For this phase, Hayes Road will be closed to thru traffic. However, unlike the previous closure, you will be able to access Hayes from M-59. This means that for example, if you are on SB Hayes, you can turn on WB M-59, use one of the median turn arounds to EB M-59 and then proceed to SB Hayes. As with the previous intersection work, this work is expected to take 10 days. We will follow the same procedure at Schoenherr later in August.
