Plan Ahead

A Note From Pastor Linda

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future ." ~Jeremiah 29

Dear Church,

Planning... we've been doing a lot of it at Hosanna; from Strategic Planning to Fall Planning. What are you in the midst of planning? A Family Reunion? An August vacation? Planning to send your child off to college for the first time? Your child back to school?

Whatever it is you are planning, I can say this with certainty: Planning takes TIME and ENERGY- but in the end is worth the effort. Why take time for planning?

To set direction and priorities
To get everyone on the same page
To simplify decision-making and avoid distractions
To drive alignment and get everyone pulling in the same direction

Alan Lakin said, "Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it." This is the essence of why planning ahead matters. Some argue that plans no longer work in our fast-paced world, yet I would suggest that by planning ahead, we plan for success.

Here's the short list of a few things to look FORWARD to as we PLAN AHEAD for Fall 2017:

September 10^th- the return to two worship services at Hosanna, 9am and 10:30am
September 6^th- Hosanna Choir begins practice
September 10^th at 10:10am- ALL CHURCH Photo! Be there!!
September 13^th- the return of connect360 with an ALL CHURCH Fun and Giggles Night with Comedians SLAP HAPPY!
Chapter 3 Retreat- Finding Your Wisdom During Life Transitions (dates Fall 2017)
Strategic Planning Teams begin their work! Look for more information in the Fall Palm Newsletter- that is being PLANNED as I write!!
October 1st - Beer & Hymns Sing! - A fundraiser for the 2018 Lakes Area FMSC Mobile Pack

Bibles and Bagels

Join us for Bibles & Bagels every Sunday morning from 8am to 9am at Big Apple Bagels in Forest Lake before Worship in the Park. The address is: 508 Lake St S, Forest Lake, MN 55025. In case of inclement weather, we will be meeting at Hosanna in the Conference Room for Bibles and Bagels. We will post the change of location on our website and our Facebook by 7:30am that day. Worship at the Park

We will be having our Annual Worship at the Park at 9:30am each Sunday. Worship will be held at Lakeside Park in downtown Forest Lake. Flat Luther

Flat Luther is at Hosanna! Have you heard of Flat Stanley? Join the #FlatLuther Summer & Fall Challenge! This is for EVERYONE!! It's easy... pick up your Flat Luther THIS Sunday and then start taking him with you. In honor of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, bring Flat Luther with you on your Summer adventures, to work, in your garden, Back-to-School in the Fall, every where you go! Susan Wojciechowski has resigned from her Kitchen Coordinator position as she has accepted a full-time opportunity. We wish her well!! She will continue to volunteer in the kitchen.

Mission Jamaica Alert!

First Payment Due Now

We have begun planning our 2018 trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Our dates next year will be February 3-10. We will work with kids, build a house and possibly have a medical team. There will be lots to do for everyone! No skills are needed, except a desire to serve the children and people of Jamaica. We will be making the first deposit in mid June. Young Adult Gathering

Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 26 at 7pm

Are you a young adult? Are you seeking to find a group that fits you? We are hoping you will join us as we begin to plan a group aimed at having fun and growing in relationships with God and others. Blue Grass Festival

July 29, 2017

Join Hosanna at the Annual Bluegrass Festival this July 29th at Lakeside Park. We need YOU to help represent Hosanna, to share with others the joys and highlights of our community. We are seeking people to join in the planning, set-up and volunteer day of the event. If you have a gift, talent, silent auction item or resource you'd like to contribute, let us know. Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) Lunch at The Swedish Village Restaurant

August 3, 2017

SAM will be meeting for lunch on Thursday August 3rd at 11:30am at The Swedish Village Restaurant (Ole and Lena's) at Center City (280 Andrews Ave., Center City MN. Phone: 651-257-6665). We hope you can join us for another fun filled SAM lunch on the first Thursday of August. Please let Lynda Olson know if you will be able to attend at [email protected]. Ole and Lena's is a very reasonably priced restaurant and they are supposed to have the best lingonberry malts in Minnesota!!

Fine Arts Camp

August 7 - 10

NEW this summer to the camp line-up is our Fine Arts Camp, open to those finishing 3 ^rd - 6 ^th grade. This camp is a great blend of fun activities to include rotating stations for Fine art (painting, drawing, sculpting) and recreational crafting. Our Fine Arts instructor, Barbara Johansen will join us as our skilled and trained Artisan. First rotation will be the Fine Arts portion; second rotation will be various recreational crafting activities. Each day will be something new to explore in the world of art! You can register here! Back-To-School Event

August 9, 2017

Forest Lake Area Schools, in partnership with the Forest Lake Police Department, First Resource Bank, Walmart, Faith Lutheran Church, Rangers Supporting Rangers and other community organizations, will be distributing backpacks and school supplies to Forest Lake Area School District families on: Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4:30pm - 7pm at the Central Learning Center (CLC) at 200 SW 4th St. Forest Lake. Backpacks and supplies will be available while supplies last. If demand exceeds supply, we will make every effort to follow up with families to make sure that they get the school supplies needed before the first day of school which will be on August 21st. State Fair Colosseum Project

August 23 - September 4, 2017

Are you interested in helping raise funds with your family for Hosanna WHILE getting free tickets to the State Fair? Please join us some night for Coliseum Clean-up! It's fun for the entire family! Green Earth Team Plant Sale and Fundraiser

A huge THANK YOU from Hosanna's GET for again supporting our annual plant sale and the community fundraiser through Forest Lake Floral. Because of you, we filled 31 plant sale orders, and recorded 17 transactions at the Floral & Garden Center. Between the two events, the GET was able to net over $830 in proceeds, which will be used to promote the efforts of Hosanna to be a Green congregation and community. Thank you again for your generous support. We will continue in our quest to be Good Stewards of God's Creation!

Hospitality Team

We are currently looking for people that would be willing and excited to join a Hospitality Team! This would be a fabulous opportunity to get involved monthly with your church and to have something to look forward to with your entire family! If you are interested, please contact Kelsey here.

Event Planning Team

We are in need of people to help us with events! Kelsey Hane is currently creating a team that can help coordinate weddings, parties and other events that use our church facilities, in hopes of making this a more event-friendly space.
