Did you miss the Ball Drop?

If so, here's a rundown of the night's events.

On Thursday, August 31, the Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce held the 1st annual Ball Drop Summer Beach Party at the Country Club of Johnston County. The event featured the legendary band, The Catalinas, who performed their popular beach music along with other contemporary tunes. Entertainment Event Specialist, Steven Marsh of Apex worked magic with balloon creations throughout the night.

After guests enjoyed beach-themed dinner and desserts, catered by Golden Corral, the band led the crowd to the golf course with a rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In". After a countdown from the crowd, the Smithfield and Selma Fire Departments dropped buckets of numbered golf balls from the tops of their ladder trucks over the target.

Corina Knott announced the winning ball number, belonging to Robbie Parker of Mutual Builders, Inc., who won the grand prize of $5000 cash!
Golden Ticket Winners
Kelly Wallace presented the Golden Ticket award to Tommy Williford and Leigh Pittman of Wheels and Deals Auto Sales of Smithfield.
The team sold the most tickets for the event and also sold the winning ticket.
