Hey There Neighbor!
Thanks for taking a minute to stay informed with the neighborhood council. Here are a few of many, diverse happenings coming up this week in our awesome neighborhood.
The final of three free
movies in the park
is this Saturday. If you missed the first two, try to make this last one. The weather is cooling off and this is just about the last time you will have a chance to enjoy some beautiful, outdoor evening weather. Speaking of this Saturday, this is also the date for Councilman Cedillo’s
Keep it Clean Kick Off
. Why not make it a community Saturday? Help clean up the neighborhood then reward yourself with a free outdoor movie!

Call for Cool Block Leaders!
The nonprofit Neighborhood Council Sustainability Alliance (NCSA), in collaboration with the City of Los Angeles, invites Neighborhood Councils and city
residents
to learn about
Cool Blocks LA
, a
free, five-month pilot program that helps neighborhoods become planet-friendly, disaster-resilient, and community-rich.
The NCSA seeks three Cool Block Leaders within each Council District to build Cool Block teams in their neighborhoods.
Please join us for a Cool Block Cafe on Sunday, October 23 in Hollywood, to learn all about the program and what’s involved in being a Cool Block Leader.

A Heart for the Homeless
Recycled Resources for the Homeless invites you to share a part of your heart with our Northeast Los Angeles neighbors experiencing homelessness. Please join us on Saturday November 5th for our First Annual A Heart for the Homeless Gala. Our goal is to raise funds for our Drop In Center, Outreach Work, and our 2016-2017 Winter Shelter. As a result of this event, we hope to raise $100,000. The funds raised will allow us to rent our own space at All Saints Church for an entire year. These funds will also enable us to host our Drop In Center more frequently and successfully operate our 2016-2017 Winter Shelter (for a second year). The First Annual A Heart for the Homeless Gala features complimentary cocktails, a formal dinner, and delicious desserts.
In addition, we will be showcasing our work through a documentary entitled: Homelessness in Northeast Los Angeles: A Community Responds, as well as honoring those who have made our efforts possible.
Semi-formal attire is suggested. Unfortunately, due to venue restrictions, we are unable to extend this event to anyone under the age of 21. Please arrive promptly at 6PM.
Sponsorship is available for the event through our website: www.recycledresources.org
