Powered Industrial Truck:

Train the Trainer

Has your forklist trainer been trained? Does your trainer know the requirements for certifying operators?

As for the trainer requirements - there is no “certification” per OSHA for the trainer (only the operator).

1910.178(l)(2)(iii)

All operator training and evaluation shall be conducted by persons who have the knowledge, training, and experience to train powered industrial truck operators and evaluate their competence.

There are not a lot of definitions around what OSHA wants – but it is up to the employer to determine who can do the training.

The class will cover the OSHA reg and what the trainer does have to cover and ideas on how to cover it…

  • Review of the requirements for Powered industrial truck trainers
  • Training and documentation requirements for certifying forklist operators
  • Tips and tools to perform in-house forklift training
