VOLUNTEERING
Field Trip Chaperones/Driver Needed
The Level 1 IS classes are going on an all-day field trip on Tuesday, November 8th to the UW campus. The students will visit the Intellectual House (also known as the Indigenous Heritage Center) as well as the Burke Museum. Time commitment is 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. Parents of 7th grade students are given priority when signing up, but if you are interested in volunteering and have a student in another grade, please apply as well in case we don't have enough 7th grade parents sign up. A total of three more chaperones are needed.
To be considered for this position, please follow the instructions below: Email the following information to Kathy Thompson, Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Your Name
  • Email Address
  • Phone Number (cell)
  • Your Student's Grade Level
  • Are you a LWSD approved volunteer?
In addition, we need one of chaperones to be able to drive their own vehicle in case there is a need for a student to return to the school unexpectedly before the field trip is over. Please advise if you can volunteer to do this as well. (This will also require that you provide proof of insurance and carry minimum auto liability limits of $100,000 per occurrence and $300,000 aggregate combined single limits of liability (or $100,000/$300,000 Bodily Injury; $50,000 Property Damage) and uninsured motorist coverage, as well as fill out another district form if selected.
Beginning Friday, October 28th, parents who have completed the above items and receive district approval will be contacted to confirm their participation.

Passive Fundraising
There are different ways you can support your school and help to raise money for ICS. Please consider doing one or all of them to support ICS.
  • Box Tops. Parents and students can collect Box Tops for Education found on many packaged foods, like cereal boxes, or household items, like tissue boxes, etc. Bring the collected BoxTops to PTSA room, there is a designated collection box on the counter. Two or three times a year collected BoxTops are sent out for deposit on ICS account.
  • Bartells Escrip program. The Bartells program is similar to Safeway. With every purchase the parent makes at Bartells, ICS receives a percentage of their purchase. Register at the store. Just mention at register that you would like to sing up for escript program. Then use this member card any time when you shop at Bartell's.
  • Everything Party.
We also have a small program with Everything Party, the party store in Redmond and Renton. If parents purchase things at the store and tell them at they check out that they support ICS, the store will donate 10% of the purchase price to ICS. Please follow the link to find a store location.
  • Red Robin. Red Robin will donate 1% of your check back to schools. All you need is a Red Robin loyalty card (link to join below, or you can join at the restaurant) and be sure to select International Community School as your school. Then, you just need to eat at Red Robin to donate. Refer to this link for more information.
Details of the Passive Fund Raising will be soon be posted on the ICS PTSA Site. Thank you for your efforts!

CELEBRATING ICS
Two of ICS 8th graders from a few years ago who are now in 10th grade went to the Kirkland City Council to convince them to install solar panels on the new City Hall building, and it has finally come to fruition! We So proud of Allison Li and Sneha Bharadwaj and the 6th graders that came to present on other topics as well.
