The Minnesota Conference on Problem Gambling takes place on Nov. 3-4 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Bloomington. Conference details, including how to register, can be found here.

Who Should Attend? Many people will find value in our annual conference. Some prime audiences include: alcohol and drug counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, persons in recovery from gambling or other addiction, family members concerned about a loved one, corrections employees, probation officers, law enforcement officers, public policy makers, educators, and anyone who wants to learn more about problem gambling resources available to help people.

A National Perspective on the Problem Gambling Field

Keith Whyte,
executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling, will provide an overview of the state of problem gambling, with emphasis on what it means for communities seeking to provide prevention, education and treatment.
A Variety of Topics

The conference covers a wide range of topics. The integration of mindfulness into treatment for alcohol, drug and gambling clients at Fairview Health Services will be discussed by Ollie Stocker, LICSW, LADC. Prevention, something that's discussed often, will be examined from the perspective of implementing a specific community curriculum. We'll also examine what goes on in the mind - neurologically - when people gain pleasure from gambling. The conference will cover many other topics; click here for a full list.
