Schofield's Mission: Developing and empowering lifelong learners and leaders all day, every day
District's Mission: Preparing each child for a successful future
Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year, Schofield families!
Dear Schofield Family,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! Ms. Bravestone and I are writing to provide Schofield families with important information for the upcoming school year and share a few celebrations. Let's begin with celebrations. More student devices (Chromebooks) will be available to Schofield students this year as the district continues its implementation of the RepMO Ready plan. Details regarding the RepMO Ready Plan can be found below. In addition to new devices, the Schofield library and computer lab has brand new carpet! It looks amazing! The Schofield Cafe (cafeteria) has been redecorated this summer and we can't wait for our families to see this new look. Thank you to Destiny Church for their work on this project. The building also has a completely renovated roof for the 2017-2018 school year!

In addition to building updates and new technology celebrations, we are also celebrating the learning and leading that occurred last school year. Schofield students reached the building academic, behavior and attendance goals set in the Building School Improvement Plan. Way to go, Schofield kids! We are more than proud of our lifelong learners and leaders and can't wait to see them begin learning and leading this school year. Don't forget we are launching The Leader in Me program this year at Schofield, as well. Students will learn the 7 Habits of Happy Kids and important leadership skills with this program. We will share information throughout the year as we implement The Leader in Me.

We know family life is fun and busy. Soon everyone will begin planning for August and the new school year. All the information you will need to begin the school year can be found below.
Open House

Schofield educators are excited to meet new Schofield families and reconnect with current families on this important night. Open House will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th. This is a come and go event where families will visit classrooms to prepare for the first day of school. This is a great night to drop off supplies. The
event will conclude at 7:00 p.m. A Tiger Stripes representative will be on site to provide information, but payments will not be collected. The Schofield PTO will also be on site this evening. They will be providing a frozen treat to families while supplies last. Be sure to visit them!

Important Beginning of the Year Documents

Please complete and return the following important documents before Friday, August 18th:

Procedure and Policy Acknowledgement Page
Completion of this form indicates acceptance and understanding of the procedures and policies in the student handbook.  The forms must be signed by parents and students. If your child is too young to sign, please place student initials in the "student signature" area.

Student Health Inventory Form
This important form provides us with information regarding your child's health and how we can support him or her at Schofield. Don't forget that all vaccinations must be up to date and on file with the school nurse.

Free and Reduced Lunch Application
This allows us to secure all possible resources for our school. We ask that all families complete this form even if there is no plan to use the benefit.
Beginning in 2011-12 the federal USDA Paid Lunch Price Equity regulation requires all school districts participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) to yearly adjust paid lunch prices until paid prices equal or exceed the free rate . Therefore, lunch prices are required to increase by $0.10 this year.

School Bus, Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

Please refer to the   Traffic Flow Map on the building's website under "Resources" for drop-off and pick-up procedures.
Please do not drop children off at the building prior to 8:10 a.m. Students are not permitted to wait outside or in the foyer of the building prior to 8:10 a.m. Adults will be present outside when the 8:10 a.m. bell rings. Students may only be dropped off from the main car line. Parents are always welcome to park and walk students to the building.

Students may be picked up at the end of the day from the main car line or the parent pick-up line at the front door. Please wait outside of the building if you choose to use the parent pick-up line. We will take your name and release your child to you. If you utilize the main car line for pick-up, please place the pick-up poster you receive at Open House on the dash of your vehicle each day. In order to decrease congestion, please do not line up prior to 3:15 p.m. We will dismiss students at 3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. It is our goal to get students with families within 13-15 minutes.

A letter from the Transportation Department will be sent to families via email and mail the first week in August identifying bus number along with pick-up and drop-off times. Questions regarding transportation can be directed to 732-3680.
Weekly Friday Early Release

As a reminder, the Republic School District implements a weekly Friday early release. Students are released each Friday at 2:30 p.m. To learn more about
early release and find answers to frequently asked questions, visit the district website at  republicschools.org. Tiger STRIPES will be available on the early release day at no extra cost to families already enrolled. For families who only need care on the early release day, Tiger STRIPES will be available at no cost for one hour of care (2:30 - 3:30 p.m.) and/or a cost of $3.50 per weekly release day for students needing care until 4:30 p.m. To attend Tiger STRIPES, families will need to sign up in advance. Registration details can be found at republicschools.org/STRIPES 360
Communication

Please call the Schofield office with new contact information as soon as possible. This allows us to serve our families in a safe and efficient manner. Schofield educators value communication with families and are always available for students and parents. Please call or e-mail anytime. Building and district information  will be distributed via the following sources: website (republicschools.org); District Twitter (@republicschools); District and Building Facebook; voice calls and text messages; Peachjar E-flyer Service (weekly optional e-mail with school related and approved e-flyers to keep informed of district and community information); and Tiger Talk e-newsletter (Sent on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month during the school year. Parents who have provided an e-mail account are automatically signed up. Others can sign up on our website.)

For any family that has not yet received text messages from the district:  In order to receive texts sent to numbers submitted to the district, parents/guardians must opt-in. To do so, simply text "Y" to code 67587 at any time. If you are unable to use this code please first contact the building in which your child attends to make sure we have the correct phone number on file. If we have your number on file correctly, but you are still unable to receive messages it is most likely a wireless carrier issue. Please contact your wireless provider and ask them to enable SMS messaging on your device.
Tiger STRIPES

The Republic School District offers quality and affordable student programming during non-school hours through STRIPES 360. Care is offered before and after school daily and during days that school is not in session. The Tiger STRIPES/TEENS program will be using online enrollment only for registration. As a reminder, each year students must re-enroll in this program.

Registration for Tiger STRIPES/TEENS will require a $30 registration fee along with the first two weeks of tuition. Online or in-person payment is available. A STRIPES 360 staff member will be available at all open houses and orientations to answer questions, but no payments can be accepted at that time. To register for Tiger STRIPES/TEENS and to learn more about STRIPES 360 programs, visit republicschools.org/STRIPES360.
