Greetings from the
Office of Parent and Family Programs
As we near the beginning of the Fall semester, a challenging part of being a parent of a college student is observing from afar as your child begins to make the transition from dependence to independence. The healthiest adult-to-adult relationships we've seen in families with grown students is the adoption of consulting/coaching roles during the collegiate years. This month is a great time to begin thinking about if the transition from supervisor to consultant is beneficial for your student and family or if there is a different approach you will take to parenting a college student.
