The Men they call Knights

The Fr. John H Endejan Council 16171 members here at St. Matthias are looking for the next generation of men who want to put their faith into action and grow in their faith.  Knights of Columbus councils are looked at as being Father's "Right Hand Men" and we are asking for men who want to make a difference in the St. Matthias community to join.

If you are interested in joining or you have questions about the Knights of Columbus, please contact Matt Haugen by email at [email protected]

Sister Parish Committee
In Mexico our Catholic Priests are being attacked and need our Prayers.  Please keep them in your Prayers, especially our sister Parish Santa Maria de los Angeles in Arambarri, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Would also be an excellent idea to keep the World Church in your prayers as well.

Are Ghosts Real?

As Halloween quickly approaches and we begin to see horror movies in the theaters, an obvious question that sometimes get asked is, "Is any of this real? Do ghosts actually exist? And as for believing Catholics how do we make sense of ghosts?"

GRACE     GRATITUDE     GENEROSITY
Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time Weekend of October 15/16, 2016   A Stewardship Prayer for October

Lord Jesus Christ, We serve in your name as did your apostles before us.
And we live, as they did, in anxious times, painfully aware of sin's presence
in the world; a world in need of your Father's mercy.
As your disciples, we also live in hope, confident that Your light is
breaking through the changing moods of life - healing, embracing
and transforming as your presence moves deep within us.
Help us see every hour of our lives as a moment of grace:
A time when we open our hearts to you in prayer,
discover your Truth in our work and leisure
and live each moment as blessings to one another.
Make us better stewards of the great wealth of gifts you have bestowed upon us.
Show us how to teach others to open their hearts to those who hunger, thirst or who are strangers.
Refresh our minds, renew our faith, and inspire us to proclaim your Gospel with a new energy in word and in deed
for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
AMEN!

St. Matthias Parish is excited to participate in a new third source funding initiative.  Amazon has created Smile Amazon. This is through Amazon.com and it allows the purchaser to choose a non-profit group which will receive 0.5% of all your purchases. The way this works is that you can log in to Smile Amazon (www.smile.amazon.com) just as you would for Amazon.  All your Amazon.com services, such as Prime, will carry over to Smile Amazon. You will choose your non-profit benefactor, St. Matthias Congregation.  Then use Smile Amazon as you would Amazon.com.  Every time you make a purchase, 0.5% of that purchase will be donated to St. Matthias Congregation.

Thank you for your continued support of our parish

A love story...
October 23rd at the 11:00 Mass we celebrate Marge, by joining in with the celebration of our Parishioners who are celebrating a milestone year Anniversary this year.

One such couple is Howard and Lorelie Draeger.who Celebrated 70 years of marriage on 10/12/2016.   Howard and Lorelie met on a streetcar while traveling to Whitefish Bay with their fellow Nathan Hale High School students.  They were taking the long trip from West Allis to cheer on their High School football team.  (Lorelie mentioned that the trip from West Allis to Whitefish Bay on the streetcar took a few hours!).  It was the fall of 1944, Howard and Lorelie began dating shortly after and were engaged a year later--when Lorelie was 17 years old and Howard was 19.
