Learning by Leading!

What a wonderful evening we had last night at our  Bring Your Parents/ Guardians to School Night . Thank you to our wonderful staff, children and families. A VERY special thanks to the ladies who operated the Book Fair last night - Alicia Harressey, Hind Bashier, and Jen Decato.

There was a great community vibe last night and we look forward to the next time the adult members of our community will be together... Please save the date for our upcoming Night of Community (see below for details)!

And back to the
Fall Book Fair
for a just a moment...Please join us in giving an extra shout out to Jen Decato for taking the parent-lead in organizing and designing our Fair. Jen put in countless hours, attending to every details! Thanks, too, to all who volunteered during the week. It looked fantastic and was enormously successful! Finally, thank you to our families who donated to the "All For Books" drive which generates funds for us to buy books for our school, and thanks to those who purchased books from our wish list baskets for the classroom libraries.

Looking forward to Tuesday morning's Service Day. Our 1st-6th graders will head over to the NH Food Bank to pack up Mac & Cheese Dinners,  which the Food Bank will distribute to food insecure families across Southern New Hampshire. In past years, our Service Days have been incredibly productive - our hardworking students have packed up thousands of dinner each time they visit. Please contact your classroom teacher if you'd like to chaperone - you will need to have a completed background check in order to join us.

Amazing Authors & The Living Wax Museum
The final week of October always features a very special series of events here at Mill Falls related to the research projects our students do about their favorite authors or important people in history. You will be hearing more about the preparation for these projects from your classroom teachers and your children. Here are some basics:

Lower Elementary Students are working in small groups to read a book together as part of their Amazing Authors Project Each student will then select a different character from the book and come to school dressed as that character on Friday, October 28th The children will share their project with parents and friends at dismissal time on   in the  Amazing Authors Parade

Meanwhile...Upper Elementary Students are hard at work preparing for the Living Wax Museum. They are researching the lives of important people in history and will both dress as their historical figure and present information about that person on Thursday, October 27th from 3:15-4pm.

Everyone is invited to attend both events!

Upper Elementary Families...Need a Tri-Fold Poster Board?
We do still have a limited number of tri-fold poster boards here at school. They are available on a first-come/first-served basis while supplies last and cost $2.
