You are invited to participate in the 2017 Great Decisions discussion group jointly hosted by McDaniel College and Carroll Lutheran Village and sponsored by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and McDaniel College. Again this year the discussion group sessions will be held in the Krug Chapel Auditorium at Carroll Lutheran Village. The first session will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017. The remaining sessions will be held on the following seven Thursdays.
The Foreign Policy Association has selected eight topics to challenge us in exploring world issues. When you participate in a Great Decisions discussion group you are joining with thousands of others across the nation participating in local groups examining and understanding critical issues.
The eight topics selected by the Foreign Policy Association for 2017 are:
- The European Union
- U.S. trade
- China
- GCC/Saudi Arabia
- Geopolitics of Energy
- Latin America
- Nuclear security
- Afghanistan/Pakistan
Each topic in the series is addressed through lecture, video and a participant question and answer session. Participants are expected as a minimum to have read the applicable articles in the Great Decisions briefing book.
Registration fees include the cost of the Great Decisions briefing book, which provides excellent reading as background on each week's topic. The cost for the eight-week series is $45 for individuals and $70 per couple. Early registration is encouraged as this series has proved to be very popular.
