ABOUT THE TEAL PUMPKIN PROJECT®

Every child should be able to experience the joy and tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween. But kids with food allergies are often left out of the fun, since most candy is off limits.
FARE's Teal Pumpkin Project helps make sure all children will come home on Halloween night with something they can enjoy. It just takes one simple act: offering non-food treats, such as glow sticks or small toys, as an alternative to candy.
Last year, households from all 50 states and 14 countries participated. This is a worldwide movement to create a safer, happier Halloween for all trick-or-treaters.

How to Take Part

  1. Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters.
  2. Place a teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passers by that you have non-food treats available.
  3. Display a free printable sign or premium poster from FARE to explain the meaning of your teal pumpkin.
  4. Make a donation to support the Teal Pumpkin Project and receive a free gift.

All Students will be allowed to dress up during school on October 31 as a character from a book
they have either read or had someone read to them if you are in the younger grade.
 (Age Appropriate Books)
The student needs to bring the book into class on October 31 and be prepared to give an oral presentation to their classmates and teacher regarding  their book and the particular character in the book that they have chosen to be dressed as.  This will count as a language arts grade. (Book Report)   No violent, gory or provocative costumes will be permitted.
There will be a prayer service at 1:00 in the gym on October 31 where Father Jones will bless each of the classrooms pumpkins followed by a parade of characters(students dressed as their favorite character from the book that they read) in the school parking lot.  All parents/guardians/grandparents and relatives are welcomed to attend.

Reminder: Monday, October 10 is a holiday
