We were looking for some shorebird habitat this morning and its corresponding shorebirds. We found the habitat, but very few shorebirds. One place to watch is the pond along the White Rocks Trail which was blown out by the floods. There is lots of mud so I think it will produce some good shorebird numbers this spring.

We found plenty of other birds besides shorebirds. Watch the slide show for my numerous 'where's Waldo' images.

Wood Duck
We saw two pair of wood ducks fly into the trees this morning. We were able to approach two without them flying off. They were on a large branch about 35 feet up in a cottonwood. After watching the ducks for a while a Canada Goose hopped up onto a low branch in a nearby cottonwood. Then it moved higher. Then it flew right toward our pair of wood ducks and landed on the same branch about four feet from the woodies. I thought its move right next to them would surely drive them
off. The goose didn't seem to be aggressive towards the wood duck. This odd bunch all just perched on a branch 35 feet up in a cottonwood.
