And- he's a new father to a beautiful baby girl!

Nelson Mullins makes an impact

As finalist for the 2016 Corporate Volunteer Council of Metro Atlanta's Project IMPACT Award, Nelson Mullins was recognized at a recent luncheon attended by hundreds from the corporate and legal community.
 
"For its program aimed at supporting the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law and Justice's effort to identify law and policy changes that would enhance law enforcement community relations in the aftermath of high profile officer-involved shootings nationally and in Georgia."

CLE on a forgotten, marginalized group in our state
On September 20, Georgia Appleseed, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, sponsored a forum for lawyers, judges, social workers and other stakeholders to educate about law and policy issues addressing the "IST-N" population.  These are individuals who have been accused of a crime but have been determined to be non-restorably incompetent to stand trial and so are detained in the forensic units of state hospitals.  Thanks to Susan Goico of ALAS and Amy Howell of DBHDD for their major contributions to the planning and implementation of this program. This CLE was well attended by lawyers, judges, social workers, and others from around the state.
