Tuesday, October 18th - Parcel Tax Study Session
at school (10:30 am)
Thank you to parents Nicole Engel and Sara Anderson, as well as staff member Karen Greenstein.
The three of them will comprise the School Site Council (SSC) for this year. The SSC meets three to four times a year and provides guidance to
develop, review and evaluate
school
improvement programs. They will oversee the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The first SSC meeting will be held on Thursday, October 6th, 2016 at 8:30 am in the Library.
5th grade teacher Ms Nelson, tech support Mr Gull and I are hosting a
mandatory 5th grade parent meeting. Please plan to attend either Wednesday, October 5th at 5 pm or Thursday, October 6th at 7:45 am (supervision will be provided for 5th graders and siblings only). Topics will include behavioral expectations, internet safeguards at school, and bullying. We need your cooperation and have scheduled both of these at different times in order to reach all of our parents.
Reminder about
volunteer protocols. If you are a volunteer on campus, you are present to help a teacher or a program. If you see something in a classroom and have a concern, particularly with a child's behavior, the discussion should be with the classroom teacher or, if serious, with me. We realize that sometimes it is tempting to tell other parents about what you observed with a child, but that is not the role of a volunteer. We realize these are all judgment calls but we need your assistance. Observations out of context and shared in the parking lot jeopardize the volunteer/teacher relationship. Please help us help our staff by focusing any concerns with staff and not with other parents. We appreciate your support.
Warmly,
Dr. Lisa Gonzales
