Feel S.A.D? - understanding is key

Do you get the winter blues?

Seasonal Affective Disorder, otherwise known as S.A.D. is type of seasonal depression. Most sufferers find the symptoms increase in the winter months when the days are shorter and there is less sunlight. Although there is no definitive understanding of the causes of S.A.D. it is commonly believed that the lack of light in the winter months affects the hypothalamus' (a fabulously important part of the limbic system of your brain) ability to function properly which can affect the regulation and production of Melatonin (the hormone that helps you sleep and wake up) and Serotonin (a neurotransmitter that is commonly thought to help with mood a.k.a the chemical that makes you feel happy!) This can lead to you feeling depressed and like you just can't cope during those long winter months.

Regain control over your mood

Typically treatment for S.A.D. involves making sure you're eating healthy, getting plenty of exercise and possibly some light therapy (with a special lamp to simulate sunlight). So how can we help here at YOU?

You might want to consider joining one of our Pilates classes as they are a great way to help with a variety of problems and connecting in with your body has been proven to help alleviate symptoms for suffers of depression.

Further, massage can really help give you a boost, in particular Lymph Drainage Massage stimulates the waste disposal systems of the body and can help to remove any debris and toxins in your system that could be contributing to feeling low and sluggish.

There is also some research that suggests that certain relaxation techniques employed in Holistic Massage Treatments trigger the parasympathetic nervous system which can lower your heart rate, trigger a 'rest and digest' response & induce a sense of comfort & calm.

Stop Smoking with Acupuncture

We're proud to let you know our fantastic Acupuncturist, Sharon, is fully trained in the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA) Protocol, which is an acupuncture treatment for addictions , such as smoking.

The treatment plan tends to run for 5 consecutive weekly sessions, although this can be different for everybody. Acupuncture needles (which are incredibly fine!) are placed into different points in the ear and body, this treatment produces an incredibly calming effect, leaving you with a sense of well-being that is so great that you no longer feel the need to find your fix.

The treatment typically lasts for around 3 months and many users who have successfully stopped smoking with The NADA Protocol like to 'top up' their treatment once or twice a year, although some do not feel the need.

NEW: Deposit Scheme for New Clients

Can YOU guess how many NO SHOWS we have had since July 1st...

OVER 40 NO SHOWS SINCE JULY 1st!!

...WOW. We couldn't quite believe it when we totted them up either!

Over 80% of No Shows are New Clients! Which is why we are introducing our Deposit Scheme for New Clients, trialing from November 1st 2016.

What this means, is all New Clients booking over the phone, email or online, will be required to make a £15 deposit on their debit or credit card on the time of booking to confirm their appointment.

Current clients are not going to be asked for a deposit at this time, but depending on how our No Show numbers go, it may be asked for in the future.

Remember: We are sympathetic, kind and patient. All we ask is that you please let us know if you cannot make your appointment, we ask for 24 hours notice, or first thing in the morning, so we can:

A. Rearrange the Therapist's day and B. Attempt to fill those appointments.

Late cancellations are not necessarily sufficient not to effect our business.

We more than often have a Waiting List on the go to fill any spare appointments, so please just contact us if you cannot make it, with as much notice as possible, so we can try to fill the slot.

Provided sufficient notice is received, No Charge is made. First time No Show or Late Cancel? For genuine mistakes, we will Let you Off the Fee for a one time occurrence, with a kind-hearted

reminder that if it happens again, the deposit will be taken and the next appointment will need to be paid in full in advance.

Your card details will be entered directly into our card machine and therefore are not stored anywhere. Any card payments made over the phone are 100% secure. Receipts will be kept and the amount paid will be deducted from your next treatment.
