Thank You Pastors
hands with hearts
October is Pastor Appreciation Month . The Elders encourage each of you, to think about how to express your appreciation and gratitude to our pastors, Rob and Heather and our new Youth Minister, Enam, this month. Perhaps you can send them a card with a written personal message, maybe a gift card for coffee, provide one night's babysitting or write an encouraging Facebook post. Do an internet search for other ideas.
Throughout the month of October, there will be a basket on the round table in the entryway where you can drop off cards and notes. There are also materials on the table for you to use or you can provide your own. The basket will be available until Oct. 31 st .
If you would like to contribute to a love offering for the pastors or specifically for Pastor Rob's 10th anniversary, please designate "staff gift" or "10th anniversary gift" on your contribution envelope or check memo line. You can also make a one-time contribution via the HillSong website.
Please remember Rob, Heather and Enam in some way this month; take time to reflect on how their devotion to serving the Lord at HillSong has affected your life and then respond.
Opportunities for Ministry
APPALACHIAN CHRISTMAS OUTREACH - now to October 30
christmas backpacks logo
Appalachian Coalfields Ministry , sponsored by Baptists on Mission, partners with many small churches in five different states to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people living in the Appalachian area. This Christmas, their goal is to collect 10,000 backpacks filled with needed items for the children of Appalachia. We want to help by contributing items and filling 25 backpacks.

What you can do:
  • Contribute money. We will need around $500 to purchase the backpacks and Bibles (checks made out to HillSong Church, with 'Appalachian Outreach' in memo line).
  • Contribute a few or several of the other items listed here. The backpacks will be separated into three age groups: 3-5y, 6-9y or 10-14y. Please keep this in mind when donating toys and clothes.
  • Help sort items and put together the backpacks on the Oct. 29th Family Missions Day.
  • Help deliver the backpacks to a regional distribution center by Nov. 5th

10 Years - from Pastor Rob
calendar pages

I began as pastor of HillSong Church on September 17, 2006. Dina Sit had started as our ministry assistant one month before I began. I was father to just one child, 4-year-old Igor. I had just started a Facebook account. George W. Bush was president. No one knew who Michael Brown or Trayvon Martin were. ISIS did not exist. No one used the phrase "Arab Spring." HillSong Church had one pastoral staff member.
Since then, our family has added Henry and Merone. Heather Folliard got married, became our associate pastor, had three children, and is about to welcome number 4 into the world. Our church has had 3 wonderful youth pastors (4 if we include Jen Moss, and we should include Jen Moss for the simple reason that she's awesome ). I miss Jonathan & Krystal, love that Emily B. is still in the church as an elder and worship leader, and am happy for Nathan as he and his new wife Emily W-H start their life together. I am excited about our new youth pastor Enam and her
husband Carlin.
