Tales from the Crypt - Horrors that development professionals have survived and lived to fundraise another day!

All development professionals have successes and situations that did not end well. This program will share those situations that did not have the proverbial 'happy ending' to illustrate how every fundraiser can learn from these situations: What were the early signs? What actions could have been taken to mitigate, if not eliminate, the bad outcome? What were the lessons from these painful events? Everyone enjoys sharing one's own successes and those of colleagues. Yet we frequently learn more from mistakes in the field than any other method. John Gilchrist, FAHP, CFRE and Karen Martin, CFRE, MBA will share examples of these real-world horrors and what we learned from these events. Send your own horror stories to our presenters John Gilchrist and Karen Martin at [email protected]. Attendees are invited to wear their Halloween costume or accessories for this fun event!
John Gilchrist

John Gilchrist, FAHP, CFRE, is an accomplished philanthropy executive with proven success in leading fundraising initiatives of various sizes, resulting in transformational gifts. He executes a range of annual and long-term development strategies and is passionate about bringing committed and connected community leaders to the table.

Karen Martin
Karen K. Martin, CFRE, MBA, applies a donor-focused, marketing philosophy as matchmaker to philanthropists and charities. Her niche is designing infrastructure advancing nonprofits, from start-up charter schools to higher education .

AFP Now! We're in the Home Stretch

Zuca travel bag
You might win this Zuca travel bag when you donate to the 2016 AFP Now! campaign
Isn't it a good, warm feeling when you know you're helping someone else? We do that all the time in our careers, working with our donors who have it in their hearts to support causes. How cool is it when we are the donors helping others? AFP Now!, our chapter's philanthropic program, enables us to provide funding for our own colleagues to attend classes and conferences. In addition, our outreach program with Paul Quinn College supports students who are pursuing college degrees in Fundraising. We actually were able to "put faces to it" as three Paul Quinn College students attended the September 28th AFP Greater Dallas luncheon meeting, soaking in the wisdom of speaker Laura Fredericks. Heart warming! And possible because of your generosity!

As we head into the fourth quarter of the year, and the Home Stretch for our chapter's annual AFP Now! goals, please consider making a donation. We only need TWENTY-SIX more gifts to make our member participation goal of 20%, and $2,640 more in donations to reach our funding goal of $10,000. We can do this!

Make your tax exempt donation or send an additional gift online today, download an AFP Now! pledge form to support your chapter's educational outreach, or contact Anne Robillard, [email protected], to make a pledge. Thank you and Happy Fall!
