Celebration of 147th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

October 2, 2016 

147th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated at Embassy of India, Washington DC on October 2, 2016. The event started with Amb Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Charge de Affaires paying floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located outside Embassy premises. This was followed by a brief cultural programme comprising of rendition of patriotic songs. A video of inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra by Hon'ble PM was also played. The ceremony was attended by around 200 members of the Indian community.

2. Gandhi Jayanthi was also celebrated in Gandhi Memorial Center, Bethesda, Maryland and several venues in DC Metro area including India International School in Virginia and Indian Association of Virginia where the video of inauguration of Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra by Hon'ble PM was also played.
