Youth Group News:
Youth Ministry at OPC is off and running for the 2016-17 school year and is off to a great start! Youth Group meets Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8:30pm in the Youth Room. At the end of October, the Walter family will be hosting a cookout, and all youth and their families are invited! If you want to attend, please bring a side to share with everyone (chips, desserts, etc.). If you were unable to make the Parent-Student Meeting on September 18, please contact Mitch to get any handouts you need for the upcoming year. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE 3RD GRADERS!
The third graders received their Bibles September 25th at a Bible Breakfast in the Art Room with their parents. Those receiving Bibles included: Abigail Curry, Lauren James, Elias Jones, Gabriel Jones, Brady Saylor, and Eric Staley.
A huge thanks to Lisa Gayhart for teaching the 3-5 Grade Class in September. Also thanks to Cia Beal and Janet Holmes for teaching in September along with Prue Dana, Sarah Miller and Deb Sayers.
Janet Holmes will be teaching the 3-5-grade class October through November.
October 2 is World Wide Communion Sunday. The children will gather in the Narthex before worship and carry the Communion elements to the chancel area.
On World Wide Communion Sunday there will only be nursery care. The other children are invited to worship with their parents.
Don't forget to pick up your nametag in the Narthex. Thanks to Carol Klumb the children now have nametags too.

NEXT COMMUNITY MEAL
NOVEMBER 30TH
Community Meal is an on-going ministry of serving our community. Oxford Presbyterian Community Meal is every fifth Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm in our Seminary Building.
There is a box by the church offices and one in the Narthex to place items for the Community Meal Pantry Needs. If you would like to donate money for this meal, please indicate "Community Meal" on your check.

: bleach, detergent, multipurpose cleaner, dish soap, mouthwash, hand soap, body wash, shampoo, diapers (NB, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), wipes, 9 volt batteries, baby shampoo, baby lotion, paper towels, toilet bowl cleaner.

Our supply of Prayer Shawls is down. It's been too hot to knit or crochet, but now that evenings are cooler and it's getting dark earlier....
Deacons can supply the yarn (Lion Brand Homespun) a nice soft yarn, instructions, and needles. You supply the labor and the prayer. Together we can provide love and care for our friends
Do you know someone who needs a Prayer Shawl? Shawls are given for comfort in times of illness or grief, as well as for celebration in times of joy.

OXFORD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WOMEN
THE TUESDAY AFTERNOON CIRCLE
Will meet on October 18, with Lynn Cronk leading the lesson, Becky Quay presenting the Mission Yearbook and Rosemary Fisher in charge of Least Coin. For reservations for the optional lunch call Lawretta Clum. Lunch begins at noon in the Café at the Knolls. Circle meets at 1:30 in the Country Kitchen.

THE TUESDAY EVENING CIRCLE
(Aka Circle 4) is meeting October 4 in the home of Janet Ziegler, 126 Pin Oak Drive, 523-2411. Janet Holmes will co-hostess and lead the devotions. Jean O'Connell will give the program. Anyone needing a ride should contact Karen Simpson, 523-8363.

Since 1888, Presbyterian Women have expressed gratitude for God's blessing by sharing their blessings with those in need at home and around the world. Thank Offering funds programs that provide education, safe housing, clean water, health care, help for prisoners, justice for women, and more. In February, 2016 the Creative Ministries Offering Committee for grants from the 2015 Thank Offering choose twenty-two projects, totaling $510,088. Fourteen ministries serve people in need in the United States. Eight of the projects are international. More than 40 percent of the funded projects are health ministries. A list of beneficiaries for 2016 is presented in the July/August 2016 issue of Horizons. They include Family to Family Furniture Bank, Bed Project, in Marysville, Ohio, The Gilead House, The Reentry Program, in Kokomo, Indiana, and Green River Ministries, Rapid Rehousing Assistance Program, Campbellsville, Kentucky, as well as international efforts. I'll try to put the whole list on the OPW bulletin board. Thank Offering envelopes were mailed with the October newsletter and should be available in the pews. We have a multitude of the blue envelopes. The goal for 2016 giving is $900,000. Fortunately this is the national goal, not Oxford, Ohio's. We give what we can to celebrate God's blessings. And the giving adds up!
The Thank Offering will be dedicated at our Fall Gathering, Sunday, October 23, 2:30 p.m. in the Molyneaux Lounge.

FALL RUMMAGE SALE
Once again the RATS (Rummage Action Team Specialists) have been busy behind the scenes making plans for the 2016 Fall Rummage Sale,
October 13 and 14, and 15. Rather than asking any one person to chair and run the rummage sale we have again formed a team of volunteers that are each serving a leadership role to make this year's Rummage Sale a success. The RATS want to remind folks that it is time for a fall cleaning and to get ready for winter.
What do we need? Clothing for Men, Women and Children, Household Items, Antiques, Collectibles, Jewelry, Gifts, Toys and more.
The Seminary is now open for donations each Wednesday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. until October 5.
You can also drop off items outside the church office during the week until October 5
or call for a pick up 523-8848. Please also note that the date for setting up the Seminary for rummage sale is Saturday, October 8, at 9 am. Set up will involved setting up the tables and moving the boxes filled with items on top or underneath those tables. It should only take about an hour, but we do need strong men, women and youth to help with this. Please come if you can help.
Why should you support the Rummage Sale? In addition to
clothing for most everyone we also have kitchenware, an assortment of jewelry and wonderful knickknacks, antiques, and one of a kind items. We have wonderful bargains and it will please you to know that when you buy something you are giving the Oxford Presbyterian Women money that goes back to the community to help those in need. The RUMMAGE SALE helps the environment by recycling gently used items, and provides an opportunity for all to find fantastic bargains and it helps those in our community that cannot afford to buy new. Please donate gently used items, or just show up Wednesday mornings to help for an hour or two or stop by for a visit and of course come and shop at our Rummage Sale. Please stop by to shop and to say hello at the Seminary.
The RUMMAGE SALE will be held on Oct 13 Thursday from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM and Friday Oct 14, from 10 am-3 PM. On Saturday, Oct 15 we will be holding our popular Bag Sale from 10 am to noon. The plan is to charge $3 for a bag that you can fill to the brim. We hope to see you there. At noon on Saturday October 15, we will again need to help to box up the remaining items and clear things out.

SETTING THE TABLE OF PEACE
Every day, we are witnesses to conflict. We read news stories of violence and supposedly irreparable divides. Angry rhetoric fills our airwaves, inboxes, and social media feeds. We see conflict tear apart communities, families, even people we know. Surrounded by this strife, it's easy to see the world through a dark lens of discord. We may even come to share the doubt expressed in Psalm 78:19: "Can God spread a table in the wilderness?"
Yet our faith tells us despite our doubts, sins, distrust, or even anger, God not only sets a table, but invites us to join it and partake in an abundance of peace.
The Peace & Global Witness Offering
challenges us to look at the world not as a place where conflict is inevitable,
but where Christ's peace is possible
. The programs supported by the Peace & Global Witness Offering to help bring people tables of peace, justice, and reconciliation even in the wilderness of war, violence, and division. In places of abiding conflict, the Peace & Global Witness Offering supports the work of Presbyterian mission co-workers to bring together former enemies and begin healing the spiritual wounds of war. In congregations closer to home, support from the Offering enables efforts to turn back the tide of gun violence that claims too many American lives. In other communities, it's facilitating a transformative dialogue about the difficult subject of race to find new common ground. And everywhere, this Offering supports witness, because by sharing the abiding love and mercy of Christ, more people can find their way to a seat at God's table.
Your support of the Peace & Global Witness Offering acknowledges that a wilderness of conflict may surround us, but we are not abandoned there. If we open our eyes to the possibilities of peace, we see God has set a table for anyone willing to take a seat.
Our Peace and Global Witness Offering will be taken October 2, 2016.
We will also recognize Peacemakers in our midst, in our church in our community. Twenty five percent goes to our Presbytery supporting presbytery wide projects. Twenty five percent stays with our congregation. In the last year, we have supported our membership in Bread for the World, a collective Christian voice urging our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. We have given both to our mission trips to Russia and to the Goal school project in Colombia, we have supported the Sojourners subscription, the community dinners and the program produced for the Freedom Dinners each year.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE COMMUNITY ADULT DAY SERVICE?
The Adult Day Service has hired a PRN (as needed) STNA - State tested nursing assistant Makayla Moore. This is her first job as a STNA and she loves her career path. She is a graduate of Fairfield High School where she was a cheerleader for both basketball and football and competition cheer.

at 2pm David Palmer plays the piano and leads us in a sing along. Every Wednesday at 2:45 pm OMA (opening minds through art) is held for our clients and their student's helpers from Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

from 2 to 4 pm student with Miami Speech and Hearing program come and lead us in a variety of different activities.
