About Sapphire

Sapphire has been admired since antiquity. It's among the three most popular colored gemstones, along with rubies and emeralds. The gemstone's Mohs hardness of 9 makes it durable enough to wear in rings and bracelets, though it also appears in necklaces, earrings and other pieces. History of Sapphire

The word sapphire comes from sapphirus, a Latin word. It is also said to have its origin a Greek word sappheiros, and a Hebrew word sappir. Some linguists have even said that it comes from a Sanskrit word called shanipriya. The word shani means Saturn and priya means dear. Thus, the word shanipriya means dear to Saturn. Once upon a time it used to be one among the 12 precious stones that had been placed on the breastplate used by the High Priest of Israel.  Read More

Our in house staff of highly skilled craftspeople; specialists in metal work and wax carving, model makers,  jewelers, setters, polishers, CAD design assistants, stone management specialists and quality control all contribute in a team effort which affords us the opportunity to manufacture all our work in our own studio/atelier in the heart of New York of which we are most proud. Although many will claim their studio is full service, in reality there are only a few who can complete all the above mentioned aspects in the manufacturing of Fine Hand Crafted Jewelry.
