JULIE SMOLYANSKY PARTNERS WITH CARLI LLOYD TO ADDRESS PAY GAP
Earlier this year, Lifeway Foods ( Julie Smolyansky) tapped two-time Olympic gold medalist and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Champion, Carli Lloyd, as its brand ambassador. Together with Lloyd, Lifeway created the national television commercial - Fair Play Means Fair Pay - which highlights the issue of the pay gap not only for Lloyd and the USWNT but for all women.

"There are inequalities that girls and women face throughout their lives. I am going to guess that if a man was running Lifeway, this is not a piece that would be made. As a female CEO I have the opportunity to push that conversation," said Julie Smolyansky regarding Lifeway's support of Lloyd's stance. Read more...

CME GROUP'S KIM TAYLOR FEATURED IN CRAIN'S
Kim Taylor, President CME Clearing, CME Group Inc., was featured in a Crain's article as one of the highest-ranking women in Chicago finance. When asked "How did you succeed in a male-dominated industry?," Kim pointed to the women who came before her. She also attributed her success to her opportunities. "I kept taking advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves," Kim Taylor said. "And I was probably here at a good time because there was a lot of growth in the industry in the '90s." FEDERAL SIGNAL NAMED IN TOP 100 OF THE 2016 CHICAGO INNOVATION AWARDS
Federal Signal Corporation ( Jennifer Sherman), a leader in environmental and safety solutions, has been named a Top 100 Finalist in the Industrial/Manufacturing category of the 2016 Chicago Innovation Awards. The awards celebrate the most innovative new products or services in the Chicago region spanning a number of sectors, industries, and organizations of all sizes. "This is a great honor and reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation across our diverse product lines," said Jennifer Sherman, CEO. "We believe that the ParaDIGm, developed with an intensely customer-centric focus and built with features tailor-made for the utility market, is a perfect example of what the Chicago Innovation Awards celebrate.  We are thrilled that the judges agree." FLAGSOURCE SELECTED AS 2016 KANE COUNTY MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR
FlagSource ( Janice Christiansen) has been selected as the 2016 Kane County Manufacture of the Year by the Kane County Board Jobs Committee. As the Kane County winner, FlagSource has been invited to a celebration of manufacturing at the Kane County Board Jobs Committee Meeting on Friday, October 14th. FlagSource, as well as other Kane County manufacturing leaders, will be recognized for their great impact on the county and its residents.

FlagSource has also been invited to attend the Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing (AIM)'s Making Manufacturing Matter 2016 regional event in Chicago on October 6th.
DORRI MCWHORTER, CEO, YWCA METROPOLITAN CHICAGO, RECEIVED "INNOVATIVE LEADER" AWARD
Dorri McWhorter,  CEO, YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, received an "Innovative Leader" Award from Good City during the Invest Chicago Luncheon, featuring Steve Case, founder of America Online (AOL) and Chairman, Revolution LLC and Case Foundation. Other awardees included The Honorable Bridget Gainer, Cook County Commissioner, The Honorable Kurt Summers, Treasurer City of Chicago, and Cheryl Hughes of Chicago Community Trust.

JEANNE GANG KEYNOTES THE HARVARD GRADUATE SCHOOL OF DESIGN (GSD) CONFERENCE
Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang delivered a keynote address at the Harvard Graduate School of Design's conference titled, "Heliomorphism." The conference celebrated the School's official launch of its new research focused arm, Office for Urbanization. While the school itself already contains a plethora of Design Labs, Groups, Lectures and conferences, the Office of Urbanization hopes to distinguish itself by focusing on research that looks to be sponsored in the realm of design. JEANNE GANG AND GENSLER AMONG FIRMS COMPETING FOR CHICAGO UNION STATION REDEVELOPMENT
Chicago's Union Station is slated to get a $1 billion facelift that could add up to 3 million sq. ft. of new buildings. Amtrak recently announced a shortlist of four contenders including Jeanne Gang and Cesar Pelli, Goettsch Partners, Gensler ( Nila Leiserowitz), and Skidmore Owings & Merrill.

The teams were selected from an RFQ and will now move on to the proposal stage, with plans due by the beginning of 2017. According to Amtrak, the winning proposal will be selected by the end of the first quarter. According to preliminary
plans, the development will include office, retail, hotel, and residential space.
