Despite living in what is likely the wealthiest nation to ever have existed, Americans sure are having a hard time getting by. As most people are well aware of at this point, wage stagnation and numerous structural economic changes over the years have led to a shrinking middle class, fewer and fewer "good" jobs, and calls for political policies that were once thought to be too poisonous to touch - like a $15 minimum wage, for example.
Given that most people are, relatively speaking, doing just fine, what do Americans have to whine about? We have refrigerators, televisions, smartphones - all things that are inconceivable in many parts of the world, even to this day.

The historic moment which we have long discussed has arrived. As of October 1, 2016, the Chinese renminbi is a part of the weighting composition of the Special Drawing Right (SDR) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The RMB joins the USD, British pound, euro, and Japanese yen in the SDR basket, and will see its international status develop even further as the once unipolar USD dominated international monetary system begins its transformation into a multilateral framework.
Researching and presenting information on this process has been one of the core tenets of Philosophy of Metrics (POM).

Renminbi joins U.S. dollar, euro, yen, and British pound in SDR basket
Change represents important milestone for IMF, SDR, and China
Move recognizes and reinforces China's continuing reform progress
Effective October 1, the IMF is adding the Chinese renminbi (RMB) to the basket of currencies that make up the Special Drawing Right, or SDR.
The SDR is an international reserve asset created by the IMF in 1969 to supplement its member countries' official reserves. The IMF's Executive Board agreed to change the SDR's basket currency composition in November 2015, and the decision now enters into force after a period of transition. The RMB joins the SDR basket in addition to the previously included four currencies-the U.S. dollar, the euro, the Japanese yen, and the British pound (see chart).
