Goings on Around the Greens
President's Corner

As the 2016 season draws to a close, I thank you for being part of this wonderful Chapter. The Board will continue to look for and plan new programs and events to make 2017 another great year. But the success of our Chapter comes from you, so spread the word. Invite others to our vibrant EWGA community, brought together by the love of golf!

And special congratulations to Donna Beland for qualifying to play in Nationals. We are proud to have you represent Central NJ!

Best,

Knob Hill Golf Outing - July 23rd

With the season heating up (literally and figuratively), 12 intrepid golfers braved the first heat wave of the season and played Knob Hill in Manalapan. Some of us had never played the course and all in all everyone enjoyed it. Luckily there was a breeze that day that helped with the heat.

After our round we cooled off at the 19th hole and awarded prizes for closest to the pin, and longest drive. This was pretty easy as Pat Harlow was the big winner - capturing both of them!

Stanton Ridge Golf and Dinner Outing - August 11th

This season CNJ added a brand new course to our rotation - Stanton Ridge in Readington.

Luckily for us, this private course became available for an outing. We had 13 players come out to play and stay for dinner at the club.

We almost managed to avoid the late afternoon rain.. but it caught up with us. Two of our groups managed to just beat the rain, while our last two groups got a bit wet. There was some spectacular lightning in the sky (we were inside by then) and a great rainbow as we were leaving the course.

Bev Harris not only managed to win closest to the pin, but she won it with a hole in one!!! Not only did she snag bragging rights, she will receive a round at a Troon managed facility for her efforts.  She also bought a round of prosecco for the group so we all toasted her success. Ingrid Brase won closest to the line, and Sheila McShane won longest drive. Congratulations to all of our prizewinners!

Rally for the Cure, Bunker Hill - August 21st

Every year we host a Rally for the Cure event to help to raise awareness and funds for the Susan G. Komen foundation. Many of our members have been touched directly or indirectly by breast cancer so we always have a nice turnout for this event. 16 golfers came in their best pink attire and we played Pink Lady as well as stroke play. Sad to say that the Pink Lady did not make it through the entire round but one team held onto it for 12 holes.

Congratulations to Barb Curran who won the longest drive prize. We raffled off a golf bag to raise money for the cause as well. As a chapter we raised a total of $540. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Ramblewood Outing - September 18

We took to the course at Ron Jaworski's Ramblewood Country Club in Mt. Laurel for our final outing. A good time was had by all. Congratulations to Diane Anderson who won longest drive. We also bid a fond farewell to Kathy Mansfield who is heading south to Florida and semi-retirement. Our best of everything to Kathy, we will miss you!  Kathy responded that I look forward to seeking out the local Ocala Florida EWGA chapter and hope this new group will be as nice and welcoming as EWGA - Central NJ Chapter has been to me!
