2016 College Football Hall of Fame electee Marlin Briscoe (Nebraska Omaha) was honored Sept. 22 with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments, during a special event starting at at Baxter Arena. Known as 'The Magician' for his ability to pull great plays out of a hat, Briscoe was an NAIA First Team All-American his senior year and set 22 school records as the starting quarterback for the Mavericks from 1964-67. Click here to read more about Briscoe.

During the NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salutes, each inductee returns to his alma mater or school where they coached to accept a Hall of Fame plaque that will remain on permanent display at the institution. Briscoe will officially be inducted at the 59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner, held at New York City's historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

2016 Campbell Trophy Semifinalists to be Announced Wednesday
The NFF will announce the semifinalists for the 2016 William V. Campbell Trophy, presented by Fidelity Investments®, on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The award recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation. 

The NFF will announce 12-14 finalists on Nov. 1, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2016 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class, presented by Fidelity. One of the finalists will be named the winner of the William V. Campbell Trophy at the 59th NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 6 in New York City, and his postgraduate scholarship will be increased to $25,000.

Eligible candidates must be a senior or graduate student in their final year of eligibility; have a cumulative 3.2 GPA (undergrad); be a starter or significant contributor; and have outstanding leadership and citizenship.
Alabama remained No. 1 in the Week 4 FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll. Ohio State, Louisville, Michigan and Clemson round out the top five in the poll, in which voters rank the top 16 FBS teams.

The results of the poll will be released every Sunday of the 2016 season and the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The final poll will be released Dec. 4. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers.

New Virtual Reality Exhibit: In conjunction with AT&T, the Hall announced it has completed the installation of the new AT&T Virtual Stadium, incorporating Samsung Gear VR and immersing f ans in the middle of all the action at more than 20 stadiums during some of the biggest rivalry games from each season.

The Blitz
The Cooper Institute, founded by 2015 NFF Leadership Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Kenneth Cooper, will honor NFF Board Member and College Football Hall of Famer Roger Staubach (Navy) during its annual Legacy Award Dinner Nov. 9 at The Star, the Dallas Cowboys' new headquarters in Frisco, Texas. 

College Football Hall of Famer Ricky Hunley (Arizona) will deliver the  keynote speech at the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl Kickoff Luncheon Oct. 14  in Tucson, Ariz.

College Football Hall of Fame coach and current Wisconsin athletics director Barry Alvarez has been named the 2017 Paul "Bear" Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. He will receive the American Heart Association's award on Jan. 11, 2017, in Houston.

The football field at  Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tenn., was renamed in honor of Steve Spurrier, a College Football Hall of Fame player from Florida and a 2017 Hall of Fame coach candidate.

College Football Hall of Famer and 1996 Campbell Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel (Florida) will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his Heisman Trophy during a "Rivalry for a Cause" at the 6th Annual Desire Cup fundraiser weekend at TPC Sawgrass during the Florida-Georgia football game weekend, Oct. 27-29.

College Football Hall of Fame coach Earle Bruce will dot the "i" during the performance of "Script Ohio" before Ohio State's game against Rutgers on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The Big 12 Conference announced the lineup for its fifth "State of College Athletics" Forum, which will examine issues facing college athletics. The Forum, "Campus Violence - Finding Solutions," will be held on Sept. 28 in Dallas. NFF Board Member and Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby will take part in the panel.

2006 Campbell Trophy winner Brian Leonard will be inducted into the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 14. He and the rest of the 2006 Rutgers team, which also featured 2007 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Brandon Renkart, will also be honored during the Scarlet Knights' game against Indiana on Nov. 5.

Michigan State honored former punter and 2014 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Mike Sadler by including his uniform number in the midfield logo at Spartan Stadium during its game against Wisconsin on Saturday. Sadler died in a car crash earlier this year.

2007 NFF John L. Toner Award recipient and Florida athletics director Jeremy Foley, who will retire on Oct. 1, will be inducted into the State of Florida Sports Hall of Fame Nov. 15 in Tampa.

The  Little Rock Touchdown Club/NFF Arkansas Chapter's   2016 fall speaker series continued today with College Football Hall of Famer Brian Bosworth (Oklahoma). Former Arkansas quarterbacks Tyler Wilson and Casey Dick will speak next week on Oct. 3.

The NFF Tom Lombardo/St. Louis Chapter will host a luncheon on Oct. 26 at Lombardo's Airport restaurant featuring Dr. Brian Mahaffeythe St. Louis Cardinals team physician.
