Downtown Trick or Treat

Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls will be stalking downtown Burlington again for Trick or Treat on Friday, October 28 from 4 to 6 PM. This event is a huge draw and a fine goodwill gesture to area children and families. Last year's Trick or Treat drew record crowds; with good weather, we can expect well over 1000 costumed kids! Thanks to all those business owners who welcome them.
144 Envelopes - Your Support Is Appreciated!

Downtown Partners board members are approaching area individuals and businesses for a unique fundraiser. The idea is to receive donations corresponding to a dollar amount on an envelope, from $1 to $144. This stands to be a significant fundraiser in which no one person or entity is asked to contribute a major amount. Plans are underway for a special thank you reception for all donors and their guests in the former Elks ballroom above The Washington on October 11 with food, beverages, live music, and a silent auction.

Downtown Partners works hard to present special events, encourage building and business improvement, and beautify the city center. We hope you will show your support for our activities by contributing at a level that is meaningful to you.

If you have questions or would like to contribute, contact Steve Frevert at 319-208-0056 or [email protected] . Together we are making great strides!

The Lighted Holiday Parade is supported by Two Rivers Bank & Trust.
The Latest News...
  • Congratulations to Hope Haven on the opening of the new Hopefully Yours store at 617 Jefferson - what a wonderful addition to our downtown!
  • Continuing the good news, we are bursting with excitement over the coming opening of Burlington Bent River Brewing Company in the former JC Penney building at 500 Jefferson! After decades of vacancy and deterioration, this longtime eyesore will generate great activity in the heart of downtown. You will be amazed by the transformation.
  • Some good news also at 300 Washington, the old Typewriter Shop, which is owned by Downtown Partners. The organization has had lead and asbestos testing completed, as well as structural design work for the roof. Thanks to the work of the Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission, we are receiving an emergency repair grant from the state historical society and have applied for a Main Street Challenge Grant to address the roof issues.
  • Retail marketing specialist Margie Johnson will be presenting a special FREE 90 minute session at Main Street Iowa's fall workshop in Mount Pleasant on October 6 (this Thursday) at 11 AM. If you are a downtown retailer, you're highly encouraged to attend - contact Steve Frevert for details.
  • And finally, thanks to the customers, vendors, volunteers, adjacent businesses, and presenting sponsor Great Western Bank for making this season of the Jefferson St. Farmers Market such a success. We tried something new, and the fantastic results exceeded everyone's expectations. Special thanks to market manager Peg Rosine Levinson for all her dedication over the past five years as the market manager. See you on May 4, 2017!
