Seventh and Eighth Grade Parents SAVE THE DATE

Parents of 7th and 8th grade students please plan to attend a meeting on Thursday, October 20th at 6:00 PM in the gym.  This meeting will discuss concerns about selecting a high school to best serve your child's goals and abilities.  Mrs. Broz will share things to look for in a high school and how to apply for specialty programs in the county. She will also give families some suggestions for college preparation.  The meeting will end with a short discussion on a new option that will be available to All Saints' 8th graders in January 2017.  Eighth grade students will be able to take a high school elective through Florida Virtual School during our in school virtual lab elective.

Principal's Letter

Dear All Saints Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the volunteers and families who attended our annual Home and School Italian Night last week.  A special thank you to Mrs. Nicole Ewing, our event chairperson, Mrs. Patty Rabideau, our volunteer coordinator, and Mrs. Donna Krusbe, our Home School Association President.  The food was delicious and I thank the chefs who started cooking days before the event.  We also had a record number of volunteers serving and welcoming everyone.  This event was a lovely opportunity to share in community and faith.  Thank you to all our families who do make this community so special.

We are trying something new this year.....we are printing our family directory in a convenient carry booklet.  Thank you to Mrs. Freitas, our Angel Program Coordinator, who shared this idea with us.  We do have the family directory online, under the Rediker parent portal.  However, it has been brought to our attention, it is not easy to navigate and a parent my not have access to it at all times.  This new booklet will have school information, committee chair information, classroom lists, general information, and all our family contact information (minus email information).  Please make sure all your family contact information is updated by the end of the week to ensure the information listed in this directory is current and accurate.  We do have a wonderful sponsor to help offset some of the printing costs.  We will be selling this directory for $1.00 for all families who wish to obtain a copy.  We hope this helps our families to be well connected.

I wanted to end this Principal's letter by responding to the many emails I received last Friday regarding the political signs and persons just off of All Saints and St. Peter properties.  Since this area is public property, I cannot force any campaigners from this area.  During elections when St. Peter Church is a voting location, there are often signs and campaigners.  However, just like Election Day, holding signs in that area is clearly a means of campaigning to our school families and church parishioners. I clearly understand everyone's right to hold and voice a political position, as it is one of the many rights of being an American citizen.  However, in this emotionally charged presidential campaign, I do not think our school is the appropriate place to campaign. I believe there is a place and time for everything, but our school becoming directly or indirectly associated with one candidate can have adverse results.   School /Church premises should be clear of politics.  I would be so disappointed if a major disagreement erupted and our children or parishioners were witnesses to this.  I would ask all our families to respect this position of the school.

Yours in Christ,

Jill Broz
Principal

Volunteer Opportunities

Scholastic Book Fair
Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair will be held from October 3 - October 7. Family Night will be held on Wednesday, October 5 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. We are always looking for volunteers who can help out with this fun event.  Volunteer opportunities include decorating, setting up, working the fair, breaking down, etc. This year's theme is a pirate theme called 'Bookaneer" book fair.  If you are interested in helping out with this fun event please contact Mrs. Maihack  at  [email protected] .

Hospitality:
We need to organize a committee that would help set up (food/decorations) and run special events or meetings at the school.  This would allow the talent and creativity in our parents to shine during events.  Further, it would be so nice to have the presence of parents at the events to represent families in our community.  Examples of such events would be Open House, Grandparents Reception, Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, HSA General Meetings and Pastors' Meetings.  Please contact Patty Rabideau if you are interested in joining this committee or have any questions,  561-385-1659 [email protected].

Auction:
Planning meetings are held every Thursday after drop off in Room 109. The auction chairs are looking for donations and sponsorships.

Helping Hands:
This program runs throughout the school year and is held on Wednesday mornings after drop off in the cafeteria.  This program assists the teachers by doing prep work for upcoming classroom projects or assignments.  There is also an opportunity to take work home.  This is a great way for full time working parents to receive volunteer hours.  Contact Rita Berley at  301-509-0729  or  [email protected]  if you would like to help or have any questions.

THANK YOU TO OUR MANY VOLUNTEERS!
