The Inspiration of St Matthew by Caravaggio | Canon Jeremy Haselock

The Christian Tetramorph is derived from the four living creatures in the vision of Ezekiel (Ezekiel 1:5-14) and the Revelation to St John (Revelation 4:6-8) wherein were seen a man, a bull, a lion and an eagle surrounding the throne of God.  While these four symbolic figures can be interpreted in many ways – St Jerome, one of the Four Latin Doctors, saw the man as representing the Incarnation, the bull as the Passion, the lion as the Resurrection and the eagle as the Ascension - in most Christian iconographic schemes they stand for the four Evangelists. So a ready way to identify the images of the gospel writers, who might very well look much like each other, is to look for the living creature lurking at their feet or hanging around with them. St Luke has the bull, St Mark has the lion, St John has an eagle and St Matthew, our subject this month, has that with “the face as a man”.

St Timothy's Shepherding Program Update
by Adrienne Beauchamp, Jr Warden

What is the Shepherding Program: Our parish has started a shepherding program. The purpose of this program is to grow and maintain an authentic culture of Christian caring and intentional relationships with everyone that is a part of our church.

Why is this important?: We, as Christians, are called to love one another.  If you read the Catechism in the Book of Common Prayer the word "Love" or a form of it appears 19 times.  It is through this love for one another that authentic and intentional relationships will grow.  The people of our parish should develop close, life long friendships with one another.  This authentic culture should encourage participation in adoration, formation and transformation in the ways of worship, fellowship and giving of our time and resources.

How is this program structured?: We currently have approximately 25 individuals/couples that are serving as shepherds.  Everyone that is listed in the current membership directory has been divvied up evenly among the shepherds.  If you are listed in our membership directory, you should receive a phone call, email or some communication from your shepherd between now and  October 15th.   Shepherds should be in contact with you on a regular basis.  Your shepherd is someone that you can mutually share prayer requests with, attend church functions with, socialize with outside of church and talk with about important topics regarding our parish, outreach, etc.

New Pre-K Godly Play Class!
PreK Godly Play is now offered  on Wednesday  nights at  5pm !  This class is for any child who hasn't started kindergarten yet and offers a time of holy story, wonder, and play.  If you're child is not potty trained, we ask that a parent come with them to the class.  So you all will have time to eat dinner, we'll keep it brief and be finished by  5:30pm .  Children will be walked over to meet their parents in Drake Hall for dinner.  Come and see how God is already at work in our youngest ones!

News & Updates
The Abraham Project - Emily Hall
Hey y’all! Emily, here. Phew, where to even start! Our first month of TAP has been such a whirlwind! Let me tell you a little bit about what I’m doing here in Winston and some thoughts as I reflect on my first month.

To start, I have been working with Brenner FIT. They are doing so much good work in the community. Here are a few highlights of what I’ve been doing: partnerships with local food pantries, research on the most effective ways to address food insecurity in our own WS, weekly cooking classes and so so much more! Come ask me about it some time!

WS is such a cool city! It feels ginormous compared to my East Tennessee home in the mountains and small college town in the hills of Kentucky. We have been exploring downtown and frequenting all of the coffee shops. It’s been a fun adjustment!

Living with Jemi and Karley has been so sweet for my heart and good for my soul. They are loving and make bad days better and good days more fun. I couldn’t imagine doing this without them!

Well, I think that’s about all we have time for. Tune in with TAP 6.0 on Tuesday mornings at Krankies, every other Saturday at Improv or 835 Knollwood somewhere in between!

Catch ya later, gator.
