FROM ASB
From the ASB Exec Team
The annual Club Fair took place on September 21st! All students were able to sign up for the many clubs available. As we start club meetings and events, the first of the year is the "Back to School Dance" on September 30th, from 7:00-10:00 PM. Themed as the "Pajama Jam", students are encouraged to come in their favorite pajamas. Especially for new students, this is a great way to make new friends, get comfortable in the new environment, and start the year off with a blast! Next up, the first ASB meeting will be on September 26th, after school from 2:15-3:15 PM. This session will just be an information meeting so students can learn more about the ASB. All those who signed up at the club fair will get an email as well to stay updated. Looking forward to a great year!
Online Sign-ups for Clubs
If you didn't get a chance to sign up for some of the clubs, here is a list of all clubs at ICS and how to register for them on the ICS ASB Facebook page.
VOLUNTEERING
Volunteer Chaperones Needed for Back to School Dance
Parent chaperones are needed for the Back to School Dance on September 30th. Volunteer time is 6:30-10:30 PM, as you will need to be here before students arrive and stay after to help clean up.  Please email Mrs. Nelson if you wish to volunteer.  The first 10 volunteers who are registered volunteers with the school district get the job!
Last Chance!  Online Sign-ups for Volunteer Opportunities Now Available!
Please sign up on the Volunteer Opportunity Interest List . You will first need to register for an ICS PTSA account if you do not already have one. This can be done on the ICS PTSA Website . Please sign up for no more than three areas. A list of Committees and their descriptions can also be found there.

Please remember that as an ICS family, you have committed to 30 hours of volunteer time per year. All families, especially those new to ICS should be sure to review our Volunteering Requirements . This document will provide you with some background information and answer many common questions about volunteering.

The Volunteer Opportunity list will close on Friday, September 30th and after that you will need to contact the committee chairs directly to volunteer. Please get an early start on your volunteer hours, as it is very frustrating to be "short" on hours at the end of the school year. Have fun volunteering and getting to know what ICS is all about! If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Thompson , Volunteer Coordinator.
Parent Volunteer Needed for Daily Staff Kitchen Tidying/Quick Cleaning
Do you come to school to pick up your student after school, and have an extra few minutes each afternoon? The staff would love to find someone (or two) to help keep the kitchen bright and sparkling for the entire school year.  Staff members are expected to clean up after themselves, but it would be great if a volunteer could straighten things up, empty the coffee pot, wipe counters as needed, etc.  The job could be split between up to two people for the year.  It's an easy way to earn those volunteer hours - slow and steady!!
Please contact Kathy Thompson if you can help.
Parent Volunteer Needed - ICS Reader Board
One volunteer is needed to change the messages on the reader board as needed (usually on a weekly basis).  If you are a parent who drops off your student in the morning or picks up in the afternoon, it would only take a short amount of time each week to help the school and fulfill some of your volunteer hours requirement too.  If you are interested, please email Kathy Thompson .
