Baltimore, MD-The Maryland Department of Disabilities is pleased to announce the hiring of a Director of Health and Behavioral Health Policy. Linnette Rivera, a Maryland native, has been working as a mental health professional for over 30 years.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Catawba College in North Carolina and her master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University in Washington, DC.  She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Approved Supervisor in Clinical Professional Counseling in the State of Maryland. 

Over the past 30 years, Linnette has practiced in both the public and private sectors.  As a  Mental Health Therapist for Montgomery County Government Department of Health and Human Services, she directly served residents of Montgomery County through the Children Youth and Family Services and the Crisis and Behavioral Health Services programs.   In her private practice, Linnette developed a  drug/alcohol/dating violence  prevention program for high school students.  In addition, she has served as a guest lecturer at The Catholic University of America, Loyola University Maryland, and Johns Hopkins University's graduate counseling programs.

"Ms. Rivera adds further depth to our team of policy experts to position the Maryland Department of Disabilities as a true reflection of the needs and interests of the disability community in Maryland."
