Dear Friends,

Taize is the name of an internationally popular worship style that creates a kind of "worship sandwich" with scripture reading and chanting on the outside and the inside
filling is silence. There are no "talking heads" as we explore turning the thinking rational mind off in order to commune with the divine. It  was developed in the town of Taize in France hence the name Taize.

Many of us are starved for beautiful worship and long to commune with the sacred.   Our new small home church is dedicated to 'exploring new religious stories for our time' and we use new scholarship that explores the divine feminine as we  create a new kind of "California Taize" that uses Gnostic texts and words that are not in the Bible.  This  Sunday we will use newly heard words and teachings of Mary Magdalene from a vision Jack Angelo had in the St Baume cave in France. This is  a holy shrine where some believe Mary Magdalene lived and taught in France after Jesus was crucified. Jack Angelo the writer of the wonderful book, The Healing Wisdom of Mary Magdalene we are reading in Monday Night Book Group heard Mary Magdalene say these words to him in a vision he had of Mary Magdalene.

"'You are all Christs, or Christs in the making. It is only your clouded vision that prevents you from seeing that you are all beings of light. It does not matter if no one believes what you say, but I want you to tell the others that Jesus, the Master, is walking among you right now....The pain you feel is my pain. I cannot let you feel all of  the pain because you could not bear it. It is my signal to you that it is Mary Magdalene who you see...You can call on me any time to help you and I will use this signal to assure you that I am close. It cannot hurt you, it is just my signal.' She then gave me her blessing."

Artist Eric Gil

It is also a tradition of Taize to create  beautiful altars and we will create an altar  with images of the divine feminine including Mary Magdalene as well as Jesus and Mary Magdalene together. The Christ-Sophia spirit  is being experienced by more and more people  in the 21st century. Some of us sense that Mary  Magdalene and Jesus agreed to come into life form together two thousand years ago in order to teach about the divine feminine and model a  ministry of partnership and love. They are the two holy streams of the divine masculine and the divine feminine intertwining and interconnecting, within us and moving amongst us.  Our small home church offers Taize worship  every first Sunday at 5 pm. We also offer a First Su nday Dream Group before worship, 3-5 pm, in the spirit of visions and dreams that is one of the major legacies of Mary Magdalene.   "Yehsua (Jesus) operated in the same way as the Lakota holy man Fools Crow (ca.1890-1989) who taught that the purpose of healing was to reassure the community that the spiritual level of being was real and the Source was with them. Jesus and Mary Magdalene did not come to perform miracles to overawe people into bowing down and treating them as gods...................We need only open our hearts and minds to the wisdom surrounding us at every moment and in every place, for healing consciousness, the flow of imagination, dreams, inner vision and the intuition are combined with consciousness of the sprit and sacred realms " Jack Angelo
