Aren't you envious of their moment? When's the last time you sank back into the companionship of a good friend and just soaked in the enjoyment of being with them, unaware of the clock or calendar or your to-do list?
As adults, we wrestle with time, borrow it, steal it, lose it. And there's never, ever enough. It seems kind of selfish to let our responsibilities and deadlines go, and do what we long to do -- just BE, just for fun.
But I know for a fact that when we're with others -- glancing at our watches and phones, distracted and flustered and preoccupied -- they can
feel we're divided, our focus on something seemingly more important. Surely you've experienced that deflating, darting-eyed absence from someone you care about. It's demoralizing.
This month, I challenge you to choose a time and a person who matters to you and commit, to give yourself over -- fully -- to the experience of connecting with them. Show them how much they mean to you. Be present.
I'm telling you, THIS IS IT. These moments are what make snapshots and memories and relationships that resonate for decades. Don't miss out.
If you're struggling to find a precious open minute, much less an hour, then I hope you'll attend my next free group coaching session (see sidebar). It'll be worth your while, I promise.
