Tickets are $75 and $125 for VIP
At the door tickets are $90 and $140 for VIP
Tickets include an open bar with wine and local craft beer to complement an array of delicious vegetarian fare from local restaurants and chefs.

Doctor Scott Loveless's childhood interests ended up greatly impacting his life. He grew up loving his family's pets and enjoying Boy Scouting. He eventually became not only a veterinarian but also an Eagle Scout. His family had several pets that they respected, loved and gave the best of care to, but when he was 8 years old, his parents allowed him to pick out the first pet who would be "his." That pet was a Russian Blue cat who he named Fluffy. Unfortunately, they later learned that that Fluffy had a very serious congenital birth defect involving her liver. She died when she was less than a year old, but his love for Fluffy and the experience of her illness and subsequent death, affected him so deeply that he decided to be a veterinarian so he could help animals have long healthy lives.
Dr. Loveless graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Western Carolina University in 1999 and as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University in 2003. That special love for cats is still there (of course, he loves dogs too), as well as a special interest in dermatology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Loveless has extensive experience from his work at two different hospitals in Charlotte and his service as Chief of Staff for five of the years he spent at the second hospital.

Dr. Garner and Dr. Loveless Reunited at AHNA
From team building exercises during orientation week in August of 1999 until graduation in the big arena in May of 2003, Drs. Garner and Loveless spent four years as classmates and friends at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. There were about seventy students in the veterinary class of 2003, but the rigors of veterinary study and the numerous extracurricular activities (intramural softball, anyone?) often translate into memories that last a lifetime even when the graduates go their separate ways. Which is why Dr. Garner and Dr. Loveless are excited to be reunited by working at Animal Hospital of North Asheville together after more than a decade of practice in separate states.

Secondhand Smoke is Bad for Your Pet

It is well documented in studies that pets who live with smokers have a much higher incidence of cancer. While I have not conducted a scientific study, I have personally seen many cases of cancer here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville in the pets of clients who smoke. Please try to protect your pet from secondhand smoke. Although it is important to protect all pets, cats are especially prone to cancers in the mouth from cigarette smoke because in grooming themselves, they take into their mouths the secondhand smoke deposits that have accumulated on their fur.

Back To School Safety Tips for Pets

Each fall, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center notes a surge of back-to-school related pet poisonings, many of which involve kids' backpacks and lunchboxes.
Some dogs are very good at unzipping backpacks and lunchboxes and helping themselves to the contents inside. And after a long school day, many kids dump their stuff on the floor when they return home, creating a nearly irresistible target.

How and Why to Look After Your Pet's Teeth
Tuesday, October 11th at 7:00pm in the AHNA Education Room. This class is presented by Dr. Dave Thompson.

This class is presented by Tristan Rehner, MS, CPDT-KA of Pet Behavior Aid.
This free Behavior Help Session is for anyone with a puppy under 5 months of age or anyone planning on adding a puppy to the family. The focus of this help session will be to help you learn what age-appropriate puppy behavior is for your puppy, learn how to establish good habits to prevent problems from developing, and discover how to take advantage of your puppy's socialization window.
Puppies W.I.N. is open to anyone who is interested in understanding more about their puppy or who might be preparing to bring a puppy into their home.

Mother May I
Saturdays, October 8th-October 29th from 2:30-3:30pm in the AHNA Education Room. This class is presented by
Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed.
This class is perfect for adolescents and dogs whose impulse control could use some polishing. In this 4-week class, you will learn how to teach your dog to greet people politely, "wait", and "leave". You will also gain the knowledge of how to use your body language to influence your dog's behavior.

Concentration: Learn how to achieve focus, despite distractions
Saturdays, October 8th and 15th from 4:00 - 5:00pm in the AHNA Education Room. This class is presented by Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed.
Learn how to achieve focus by your dog, despite distractions. New environments, people, and other dogs can be challenging and stimulating for your dog. In this two session class, you will learn how to build focus and shift your dog's attention from distractions back to you. This "Concentration" class is a prerequisite for the other classes in the Training Games Series.

Red Rover: Teach Your Dog to Come Whenever & Wherever Reliably
Saturday, October 22 from 4:00-5:00pm in the AHNA Education Room. This class is presented by Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed.
Teaching your dog to come when called enthusiastically and immediately is an important skill every dog should learn. It might end up saving his or her life! Not only does a speedy recall allow your dog more fun and freedom, it gives you piece of mind that your dog will return when asked.
