They Call Me Momma Katherine is coming in September for all of you who are interested in reading it. I have finally finished the book and it is going to press as I write this newsletter to you. I hope you will be encouraged and inspired as you read it, and my biggest desire is that it will glorify God.
This has been a busy month, even though we had no teams here. We have Melanie's sister, Michelle, who is with us as an intern this summer from Moody Bible Institute. We are excited to have her working with Genesis Primary School helping Melanie with teaching the children Bible among other things. Please pray for her time here with us. We have four other interns from Orphan's Heart that will be here for 5 weeks later in the summer.

The Lord told us we would have many troubles in this world, but that we should always take heart because He has overcome the world. Let me tell you this is easier said than done. This month one of our children who had just suffered with 2nd and 3rd degree burns has again had serious problems. This time his whole family is affected. It has been raining a lot and many of the people in the village are suffering with leaky roofs. This means it is difficult to sleep when it rains all night (which it has been doing a lot!!). Innocent, who had the burns, is suffering

even more, now sleeping in the kitchen hut with the goats and what little they have. Their house completely caved in living them with nothing. We give thanks that his father has made bricks and is trying to make something more dry and permanent. Please pray for them as this is a very difficult time for them. Praise God that a new friend to the ministry has given the funds needed to provide for the completion of this family hut.

Because of the heavy rains, we have an outbreak of cholera, not in Kamonkoli, but nearby villages. We had to do some training and get everyone to understand how careful they need to be. Pray that in Kamonkoli and other areas we do not find cholera.

In the last five months we have had many new young people come to the Lord; five of them sponsored and other community youth as well. We give praise for this and what a difference you can see in their lives when the Lord comes to live in their hearts. We have been striving to make sure they receive the discipleship that they need. In July we have an evangelistic crusade coming up and are excited as we will have a Pastor from Michigan who has been here once before (in 2003) and will also work with our own Pastor Duchu Nelson. Pray for the upcoming crusade that the Lord's spirit moves throughout the village into the hearts of so many people and that permanent seeds are planted.
Last month we had a free medical day at the clinic and had 136 patients. This was exciting and yet sad. There are so many who get sick and never come for treatment at any clinic because they cannot afford it. Malaria has been really bad due to the rainy season and people are coming with more than one parasite. The parasites are becoming resistant to the medicine and this needs our prayers. Malaria is the number 1 killer in Africa and Uganda is no exception. I recently had a bout of it and was treated three times with three different doses before it went. Two others on the staff were also suffering in the same way. Then in my home alone there were three children having difficulties with the malaria. Pray for the Lord to intervene and stop the mosquitoes!

As summer is coming I know that many people go on vacations. I am asking that you not forget your child that you sponsor and remember to send in the funds for them. They need those funds to go to school and to have food to eat, as well as anything that may come up such as medical. We are thankful for all you do to make their lives so much better.

I am thankful to God to continue serving the children and for all He does to help them in their lives. We have many that will be finishing this year with university or vocational studies. We now have more younger children than older ones, whereas a year ago it was the opposite. Give praise to the Lord with me as we realize that the new children will have this chance. The new children are all in school except for a few who are too young. It is so exciting to see their lives change for the glory of God and that they too may grow up to make a difference.
Thanks so much and God bless you,   Katherine

Ministry Needs
.
Above is a picture of the medical clinic for HUM and it has been serving the community well. The clinic still has a few needs costing around $500 for furniture.

The orphanage houses are also having maintenance due to the heavy rains and we ask for those who can to help with funds to make these repairs. We need around $3,000 for all four houses. This includes repairs to the screens and windows, roofing repairs where we have leaks, some floor repairs and door frames replaced in the boy's home.

Help us spread the word.  Go to
www.hineskids.org/donateaplate
and check out Andrew's story. Then, make a donation and, like the video suggests, click a quick pic of yourself with an empty plate to share on your favorite so
cial media and encourage your friends to give. Please include
#donateaplate .    Challenge your kids, school, youth group, Bible study, Sunday school class, church, scout group and others to get involved.

Thanks in advance for your help!
