D1 TEAM SHINES!!
Since taking office in December 2014, I have  been  fortunate to work wit h the amazing County Council staff. Since the beginning my District 1 Team included Gary Smith, my Special Assistant, and Roz Hightower, my Administrative Assistant. Just this July, Jessie Keller joined the team as my District Aide. On any given day, my team works to answer questions, work special projects, develop legislation, and meeting with constituents... and they do this all with exceptional professionalism and efficiency.

And then came the EC flood on July 30. Folks have heard and talked about the fact that I had just landed in Spain when the flood hit and that I turned around came back as soon as I could arrange a flight. What people may not realize is that from the first moments after the devastating event, my team jumped into action. In my physical absence they took charge to make sure we did all that could be done. That was eight weeks ago, and this amazing team has not slowed down one bit! I could not be more proud or more appreciative of their efforts on behalf of those affected by the flood. They made no mention of the number of hours they worked or the continuous string of days they were in the office or on Main Street, day and night.

Gary, Jessie and Roz.... You're amazing, dedicated, and compassionate actions these past eight weeks have made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many.

Council Votes to Extend Ellicott City Emergency Declaration to October 6th

Councilman Weinstein joined County Executive Kittleman at a town hall on the flood recovery Wednesday, September 14th. The purpose of the meeting was to share information about the planned opening of Main Street and to listen to feedback, ideas, and concerns from the Historic EC community. Based on the discussion that evening, the Councilman and Executive conferred and decided to request the Council extend the declaration to allow the property owners and merchants more time to prepare for repairs and reconstruction. Residents were allowed to move home last weekend if their homes were deemed safe by the county.
