Online Fall Book Fair- Next Week

Dear parents, students, grandparents, and special friends,

The online book fair is currently OPEN! It will remain open until October 12. It features an expanded selection of books that are not available during the in-school book fair.

Books purchased during this online fair will be delivered directly to school the week of October 17th. I will distribute the books to the children in their homeroom classrooms as soon as they arrive. This will allow grandparents and special friends to purchase books even if they cannot make it to our grandparents and special friends celebration!

Please consider shopping our online fair and sharing the information with grandparents and special friends!  Mrs. Murray

Cub Scouting is a program designed to support and encourage quality family involvement for boys in the first through fifth grades. Each Cub Scout learns to respect their home, country, and other people. The program also helps children this age to:

* Learn new physical skills   through sports, crafts, and games.
* Develop a sense of belonging. Learn how to get along with others through group activities.
* Develop leadership   skills.
* Develop self-confidence   and personal independence.
* Learn to make values-based decisions that assist them throughout their adult life.

Now is your chance to get them involved and signed up for Cub Scouting. Pack 170 is chartered by St. Charles School PTO. Meetings are typically held in the St. Charles Parish Hall. We have separate dens for each grade level.
If you would like to get involved, please contact [email protected].

Athletes of the Week

Megan Hendrickson is Athlete of the week for the 7th Grade Volleyball Team.  Megan lead the team with 12 points scored in last weeks match over Owen Valley.  Megan recorded her highest serving percentage of the season, highest points scored off her serve and her best passing percentage all season!  Great job Megan and keep up the good work!

From Coach Skirvin...
My Athlete of the Week for 8th grade volleyball is Fiona Flynn. Fiona served 9 points with 3 aces in our win against Owen Valley this week. As one of our team setters, Fiona has great court awareness and touches the ball in almost every offensive pass-set-hit attempt. Fiona is one of the strongest passers on the team, consistently using great technique to pass the ball to the setter. She is also a capable hitter in both front and back row attacking positions. She is a team player with a positive attitude who reliably compliments her teammates on their successes and tries to lift them up when needed. Fiona is an integral part of our team's success this season.

From Coach Hamilton, Coach Tanford, and Coach Miller...
Caroline has worked her tail off to become one of the top runners on the girls' team! She set a lifetime PR at the CYO meet in Shelbyville and placed 7th overall in the 56 girls' race! At Bedford last week (against 7th/8th graders) she also ran very well on a tough course, coming in 4th for St. Charles and placing 9th overall! And then on Saturday, she was motivated enough to go run the Edgewood course with her brother so that she would be prepared for this week's County Meet at Edgewood. Great work ethic Caroline! Go get 'em!

From Coach Hamilton, Coach Tanford, and Coach Miller...
Sam trained with the North team in the summer,  and he pushes himself every day to improve. He ran a fabulous race at Bedford last week in hot conditions on a difficult course and took 4th place overall! Then he finished his week off with a great run at the Hoosiers Outrun Cancer, improving his 5k PR time by 58 seconds since August and over 6:00 since his first 5k last summer! Sam is a wonderful leader, is respectful to all, and always exhibits great sportsmanship! Great job Sam! Good luck heading into the final stretch of the season!
