Cursillo

THE JOURNEY is a weekend retreat offered by Episcopal Cursillo in Arkansas that's designed to help enliven the faith of interested Christians so that they may begin to discover Jesus' will for their lives.  It focuses on how the resources of our faith strengthen and support our apostleship, and emphasizes those elements of doctrine and discipline which empower us to reach out.  The next Journey retreat is to be held October 21-23, 2016 at Camp Mitchell.  For more information, go to www.cursillo-ar.com or contact Registrar Betty Seymour at 501-319-7576 or bseymour52@gmail.com.

Celebrate Hannah Hooker's Ordination

Hannah Hooker will be ordained into the Priesthood on Saturday, October 1 at 11 am at Trinity Cathedral.

All are invited to attend and celebrate with the Hooker Family!
Sing with Us

We have started learning the song "I Sing a Song of the Saints of God" in the preschool and elementary school Sunday School rooms this week. The song talks about how anyone can be a saint. Saints don't have special powers. They do amazing things, not because they are powerful, but because God is powerful, and it is God working through them who does the amazing things. We will be adding staging and costumes in the next few weeks. The children will perform before the 10:30 a.m. service Oct. 16. It's not too late to join us. We meet at 9:30 a.m. Sundays after breakfast but before classes in the basement under the parish hall.
Putting information in the Sunday Bulletins

Caroline will be out of the office the first week of October. If you want something to go into the October 5th Evangelist or Bulletins October 9th, please get it to her by September 28th.

S t. Luke's is a very active community and more is happening all the time! Please help us save room for all our events by keeping your blurb's in the Sunday bulletins down to four lines or less. More information can and will be shown in the Evangelist each week! If you have any questions about this, please contact Caroline in the church office.

Arkansas Youth Event

The Arkansas Youth Event (AYE) is Oct. 14-16, at Camp Mitchell. This is our fall weekend retreat open to 6th-12th grade youth from across the state. It is a great kick-off to the new school year, a chance to spend some time with old friends, and a time to make new friends from all over the state. The cost is $110. Learn more and register on the EYC website. Partial scholarships are often available through your local church and may also be available from the diocese. Contact your church leader first and then the diocese for financial assistance.
