September 2016
Docent spotlight: Jenny Curry

Meet Jenny Curry. She began volunteering at the Mansion about six months ago.

"I enjoy sharing the story of the Mansion with our visitors and learning their stories as well," says Curry. "I also enjoy watching the reaction of our visitors when they first come into the building and then as they take the tour. They're always so surprised by what's here."

Jenny has two favorite rooms at the Mansion, the west bedroom and the solarium. She enjoys the west bedroom because of the beautiful view of the mountains, and the solarium because of the glass windows and warm sunshine that light up the room. "It must have been a wonderful, happy place to hang out," she adds.

Jenny previously volunteered at the Humane Society as a dog walker. She loves dogs, enjoys hiking and participates in raising and socializing Labrador Retrievers.

Volunteer at the Mansion
The Highlands Ranch Mansion is hosting its final volunteer orientation of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. If you would like to get involved in your community, enjoy history and meeting new people, consider becoming a volunteer at the Mansion.

Volunteers are the face of the Mansion. You will greet guests, provide tours and answer questions about the history of the home. You can volunteer as a greeter or docent during open hours and special events.

To sign up for the volunteer orientation, send an email to [email protected]. Pre-registration is required.

The Mansion is full of history
The front door of the building now known as the Highlands Ranch Mansion changed location three times throughout its history. Come take a tour at the Mansion and let our volunteers show you where these doors are now located. One of them dates to the early 1900s and has an original iron knocker. Give it a try!
