2016 OML Annual Conference A Success!
Over 400 municipal officials from across the state attended the Annual Oklahoma Municipal League (OML) Conference and Exposition, held September 13 - 15 in downtown Oklahoma City at the Cox Convention Center. OML was also honored to have the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund (OkMRF), the Municipal Electric Services Organization (MESO) and the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) as coalition partners in this yearly endeavor to bring a vast array of educational opportunities to Oklahoma officials.

Another Successful Fundraising Event for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
1st Annual Pie in The Face
The Oklahoma Gas Association (OGA) along with our coalition partners Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Fund (OkMRF), the Municipal Electric Services Organization (MESO) and the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group (OMAG) aided in the success of yet another conference fundraising event. Together, $7,480 was raised to donate to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. OGA staff managed the event and was responsible for collecting all of the funds and making sure the money was given to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to help fight hunger. OML would like to sincerely thank OGA, OkMRF, MESO and OMAG for their generosity and continued support of our annual conference.
OML Annual Business Meeting
The Annual Business Meeting and Breakfast were held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the OML annual conference, where the proposed slate of Directors and Officers were approved as presented by the voting delegates in attendance.


2016 OML Golf Scramble
OML hosted the 26th annual golf tournament at the Lincoln Golf Course in Oklahoma City as one of the activities to kickoff conference. This year 70 golfers participated in what was a beautiful day of golf.  Visit the OML Conference Website to see the winners.  And a huge thank you to sponsors Cunningham Recreation for the lunch and prizes and Al Weber from United Technology Services for the beverage cart.


2016 MCO Awards Breakfast
The Mayors' Council of Oklahoma held their annual breakfast during conference. Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb addressed the crowd regarding issues that all cities and towns face no matter how big or small. 

We would also like to thank Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS) for sponsoring the breakfast.


 2016 Award Winners Announced
OML would like to congratulate the recipients of this year's awards. The award winners for 2016 were announced at the OML Annual conference and are as follows:
- Innovations Award for population over 10,000 - Stillwater
- Innovations Award for population under 10,000 - Sallisaw
- Mayor of the Year for larger communities - Craig Thurmond, Broken Arrow
- Mayor of the Year for smaller communities - Stan Jackson, McLoud
- Don Rider Award - Cindy Rosenthal, Former Norman Mayor

Also, OMCTFOA presented the Clerk of the Year Award to Janice Almy of Sand Springs and CMAO presented Timothy Rooney, City Manager of Mustang with the Gerald Wilkins Award.   See the conference website for complete information on our award winners.


Pre Conference Workshop
Elesia Church Presenting Grants 101
Go For The Grants ! was this year's Pre-Conference workshop.  It was a packed house with over 115 delegates in attendance.  Elesia Church, Treasurer/Grants Administrator for the City of Elk City presented Grants 101, teaching all the ins and outs of grant writing.  There were representatives from eight agencies that provided informative presentations on the grants and programs they had to offer.  A few of the agencies had also set-up information booths during pre-conference and conference to network with delegates one-on-one.  Steve Traina with IBTS ended the day's session with a presentation on Compliance.

MCO Board Nominations: Deadline October 1st!
Members in districts 1, 4, 6, 7 and 10, your district's board seat is up for election this year. If you are interested in the position, please submit  Expression of Interest to the OML office no later than Saturday, October 1, 2016.  Please contact Sarah Lingenfelter (1-800-324-6651 or 405-528-7515, or  sarah@oml.org) with any questions regarding the board seat vacancies.  The MCO Nominating Committee will select the nominees to present to the MCO Board of Directors and will be voted on in November.
