At FFCR, we believe understanding the problem is important, but it's only the first step. The next and most crucial is to seek and create solutions.  Out-of-the-box, cross-disciplinary thinking is a necessity.

Miami-Dade Youth Homelessness Initiative Releases 2016 Strategic Plan
Enrique Sepulveda, member of the Youth Homelessness Initiative (YHI) Youth Voice Advisory Council and Vice President of the Student Government Association of Miami-Dade College, shares his experience of homelessness at the half-day meeting to release the YHI 2016 Strategic Plan.
 
FFCR Presents on Judicial Reviews at DCF's 2016 Child Protection Summit

A team of Florida Foster Care Review staff shared their knowledge on September 8th as part of the Department of Children and Families 2016 Child Protection Summit . The 75-minute workshop, presented by FFCR Executive Director Candice Maze , Citizen Review Panel Program Manager Marissa Leichter and Program Director Vanessa Muñoz engaged the audience of approximately 50 child welfare professionals in practical learning.
UPS 5K Race/Walk Leaves Us Breathless

What a morning we had on Saturday, September 10th at the UPS 5K benefiting United Way of Miami-Dade! It was great to be among the 2,000 runners and walkers who turned out to support the United Way and promote a healthy lifestyle for our community's youth. FFCR was not only a Pacesetter Sponsor of the event, but was also well-represented with 7 staff members, 2 volunteers and 3 supporters in attendance.

Raising Awareness at The Children's Trust Family Expo

While some FFCR staff members and volunteers participated in the UPS 5K Race/Walk on September 10th, others headed to the Miami-Dade Fair and Expo Center to staff a booth at The Children's Trust's 2016 Family Expo. By being present at the expo, which attracts more than 15,000 visitors each year, FFCR was able to raise awareness of the challenges facing abused and neglected children and youth, and recruit potential volunteers.
