The 2016-2017 Alberti Center Colloquium Series kicks off on
Wednesday, October 18, with
Exploring the Stability and Instability of Aggressors, Victims and Aggressive-Victims from Childhood to Adolescence, presented by Dr. Idean Ettekal, project director at the Research Institute on Addictions, University at Buffalo. This event is FREE!

2016 Alberti Center Annual Conference
|
The 2016 Alberti Center Annual Conference, presented by the New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, will take place on
Thursday, September 29, 2016
from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Classics V Banquet & Conference Center.
Accommodations are being made to ensure that this is a fully accessible conference for adults with disabilities, parents/caregivers, and professionals. NYSED LMSW & LCSW Contact Hours will be offered to
those who attend the full conference; no partial attendance credits will be awarded.
In addition to two breakout sessions, our morning keynote speaker will be Dr. Chad Rose, assistant professor, Department of Special Education at the University of Missouri, and recipient of the 2015 Alberti Center Early Career Award. Our afternoon keynote will be presented by Julie Hertzog, director of PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center.

Queen of Heaven School's "Run, Walk, Roll Against Bullying" 5K
|
Queen of Heaven School is inviting the community to
Run, Walk, or Roll Against Bullying
at their annual 5K run and 1 mile fun walk taking place on Saturday, October 1, 2016. A $25 fee for the 5K includes a t-shirt (for the first 200 participants), Krolick's Chicken BBQ, music and kid-friendly events. Awards will be given to the first, second and third place 5K runners in their age category. The fee for the walk is $10.
All runners and walkers will receive a participation ribbon showing their support against bullying in our community and a portion of the from the event will be donated to the UB Alberti Center! Learn more about the event on the Queen of Heaven School website!

Congratulations to Dr. Lyndsay Jenkins, recipient of the 2016 Alberti Center Early Career Award! This award recognizes Dr. Jenkins as an individual who has made exemplary scholarly contributions to the field o
f bullying abuse prevention and conducted research that has the potential to influence practice and policy.

Welcome to our Newest Team Members
|
Two UB graduate students, Tim Parks and Jessica Rosenburg, recently joined the Alberti Center team!
Tim Parks has his Bachelor's in Psychology from St. Bonaventure University and is
 currently a doctoral student in the Combined Counseling and School Psychology program at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His responsibilities at the Alberti Center include working as the graduate assistant for PREPaRE School Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training Curriculum developed by the National Association of School Psychologist's (NASP). Tim's research interests focus on bullying, childhood trauma, and crisis intervention in schools.
Jessica earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in
Special Education from Daemen College. She is now in
her second year in the MA/AC School Psychology program at the University at Buffalo. Currently, Jessica is working with Dr. Nickerson and members from the Research Institute on Addictions (RIA) to develop a new research project related to bullying. Her research interests include risk and resilience processes, bullying and victimization, and school crisis prevention and intervention.
