This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 48th installment visiting with Roger Moore, managing director of Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore which is a commercial real estate services firm, leveraging local expertise and relationships with national reach and resources to deliver a maximum return on our client's investment.

 

Describe what you do. Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore offers commercial sales and leasing, tenant acquisition, land acquisition, corporate real estate services, and property management. Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore is East Tennessee's only brokerage firm that markets properties nationally to a 100,000-strong brokerage and investment community. This allows us to locate investment options for our clients while leveraging the power of all brokers. The firm applies years of combined experience to simplify the process by listening and tailoring Commercial Real Estate solutions to our clients' needs.

 

How did it all begin? Carrying on a family tradition, Roger M. Moore, Jr. founded R.M. Moore Real Estate in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1995 and opened an additional real estate office in Sevierville, Tennessee, in 2005. Through first-rate customer service, in-depth understanding of the market and a cooperative team approach, the firm has grown more than 900% since its first year. In January 2008, R.M. Moore Real Estate Company gained a national platform by affiliating with Sperry Van Ness, an Irvine, CA-based firm that shares Moore's philosophy of putting the client first, treating people fairly and being aggressive in a positive way. The Sperry Van Ness platform offers resources to market local properties to a national audience of brokers, tenants and investors. The extensive resources offered are also leveraged to deliver industry-best advisory and consultancy services to clients. The affiliation has helped to sustain the firm's growth. In 2008, the firm ranked no. 3,453 on the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Private Companies in America and ranked 49th in the magazine's list of the Top 50 Real Estate Companies in America. The U.S. Local Business Association awarded Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore, LLC the 2008 Best of Knoxville Award in the Real Estate Management Category. In 2009, Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore, LLC acquired the commercial division of Colonial Real Estate, Inc. in Sevierville, Tennessee. In November of 2012, the firm's Knoxville office relocated to the newly renovated Century Plaza at 10820 Kingston Pike. Currently, Sperry Van Ness | R.M. Moore ranks no. 9 among all Sperry Van Ness offices and Roger Moore ranks no. 17 among the 1000+ Sperry Van Ness Advisors nationally.

 

What is your background? Roger M. Moore, Jr., serves as the managing director for Sperry Van Ness/R.M. Moore, LLC. Moore entered the real estate industry in 1980 as a licensed real estate agent selling real estate for his father, who, at the time, had the largest real estate company in Tennessee. Following in the footsteps of his father and prior to affiliating with Sperry Van Ness, R.M. Moore was named on the INC 5000 list of the fastest growing companies in 2007 and 2008. In February of 2007, he was also named the Top 101 in Commercial Real Estate by Business TN Magazine. In his more than 25 years as a real estate agent and broker, Moore has amassed an impressive amount of experience with the sale and lease of countless commercial properties. In 1995, Moore decided to continue the family tradition and opened R.M. Moore Real Estate Company, a full-service firm focusing on commercial real estate. Moore continues to take a very active role in the everyday functioning of the company. Not only does he manage the firm and its employees, but he also specializes in personally providing commercial property, tenant acquisition and property management services. Roger and his firm consistently rank among the Top 100 Advisors affiliated with Sperry Van Ness. This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 49th installment visiting with Matt Grimes, Blount Campus Pastor at Faith Promise Church which exists to reach those who are far from Jesus with the Gospel of Jesus, and help them grow closer to Him.

 

What does your church do? We have weekly worship services, as well as community outreach events, and growth/development opportunities for those who attend.

 

How did you get started? I started as an intern in a church in Alabama, and worked my way up through the organization into a Pastoral role.

 

Who is your mentor? Eddy McBroom. Gave me my first ministry opportunity and has been a huge help to train and guide me along the way.

 

Name three things you wish you knew when you started. 1. Just how important good people skills are. 2. You can't please everyone. 3. The importance of not taking things too personally.

 

What do you enjoy about being a Pastor? The ability to get to work with people, and see the transformation that happens in people's lives once they meet Jesus.
