Welcome

Welcome To the September 2016 Real Times

Well the summer is officially over and most of us are back to work and school. I hope your summer was enjoyable and relaxing. Real Time is celebrating our 35th year in business next month. So much has changed in that time. Reflecting some of those changes, this month articles highlight hosted email, instant messaging's role in business and how to decide if your desktops still are a fit as a tool for your business. We also have one on security from our CTO Mike Van Pelt. Click here for Mike's article.

Real Time offers a large portfolio of solutions providing a layered defense from malware, spam, ransomware and virus threats to your business. Your Real Time Account representative is only a phone call or email away and can help you with any questions you may have regarding the security of your network, the Cloud and how it fits with your business and how you can control your network support costs using Net Tech Managed Services.

That's all for now. See you in November!

Improve compliance with Office 365 E5 plan

Organizations own the data they keep in the cloud and they need to know how it is being handled at all times.

Microsoft is the industry leader in cloud compliance for enterprise customers. With the Office 365 E5 plan, advanced compliance is integrated into the service, so organizations can meet their unique requirements using a single cloud service.

Microsoft recognizes that organizations want control over access to content stored in cloud services. To maximize data security and privacy for Office 365 customers, Microsoft has engineered the service to require nearly zero interaction with customer content by Microsoft employees. Access is obtained through a rigorous access control technology called Customer Lockbox for Office 365, which helps you meet compliance obligations for explicit data access authorization. In the rare instance when a Microsoft service engineer needs access to your data, access control is extended to you so that you grant final approval for access. Actions taken are logged and accessible to you so that they can be audited.

Implementing an instant messaging platform is important for productivity for teams of all sizes. Enabling a system for quick, informal, easy-to-reference and mobile chats keeps teams connected for nimble collaborations—resulting in a major value-add to your business.

How much value, exactly? Businesses that have embraced instant messaging practice have seen remarkable improvements in productivity and streamlined communication. According to a survey of employees using chat services conducted by SoftwareAdvice.com, 75 percent saw decreased call and email volume, and 66 percent noticed quick resolution for simple questions. When it comes to productivity, 21 percent noted either moderate or significant increase.

As company-wide IM benefits become clear, more and more businesses are getting on board. If you're interested in these benefits but are wary to ensure proper implementation and use throughout your company, provide best practices for your employees to reference to increase productivity and reduce frustrating growing pains.

Desktops have supported your business and workforce for years. But with new developments (wireless docking) and new form factors (Ultrabooks, detachables, tablets), desktops are now just one of a number of viable options for businesses looking to replace their aging fleet and/or upgrade their existing capabilities.
