Did you know?

As a Board Member, I regularly visit the Melville Chamber website to find out if there are resources or particular businesses that are members during my business day. I am often asked by colleagues if I know of a Limo company for weddings or proms or for help finding a marketing company or other kind of company. I try to quickly look up on the Chamber website to give them some names and numbers of our members. I may not use the services directly of our members but I will refer all of my friends and colleagues to businesses that I know through the Chamber. So the next time you are looking for a business go to the Melville Chamber website if you don't have anyone in your contacts that can provide you the services I am sure there is a member who can!

When the Chamber Board was looking to redesign our website we went to our membership to find a company and used the resources we had in our membership. Be on the lookout for a new website coming soon for the Chamber and special thanks to Brainstorm Studio at http://brainstormstudio.com/ designing the website which will be launched very soon.

There are many ways that you can use the Chamber to find resources for your business. If you scroll through our membership there are members that can help you with loans, personal coaching, staffing, and other aspects of your business. Did you know that Farmingdale State College has a Small Business Development Center right on the Campus? You can visit their website at http://www.farmingdale.edu/academics/centers-institutes/small-business-development-center/index.shtml

The Farmingdale Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides free, one-on-one business advising. This free technical assistance is available to anyone who wants to start a business or who already owns a business. Services range from answering startup and business structure questions to assisting with business plans, cash flow projections, marketing plans, and loan information.

Their mission is to provide professional business advisement, education, network resources and to advocate for small business and entrepreneurs. The SBDC at Farmingdale State College plays a key role in economic development by providing free, high-quality, technical and management assistance to start-up and existing small businesses. Talented, certified SBDC business advisors are ready to counsel and train you to make your business succeed. So come and use the services of the Small Business Development Center today!

Administered by the State University of New York and funded in part by the U. S. Small Business Administration and the State of New York, the SBDC combines the resources of the University, the private sector, and government to benefit Long Island businesses.

So remember if you need a business resource to take a look at the Melville Chamber website at www.melvillechamber.org or call Ted Macaluso our Executive Director (631) 777-6260 or email him at Ted@melvillechamber.org. Ted can meet with you to provide feedback and advice so that you can advance in your business. You can even talk to one of the Board Members because we want to see you succeed and stay on Long Island.

Best regards,

Dawn Grzan
