Recognized by  The New Yorker as "one of the finest piano trios on the current scene," Trio Con Brio Copenhagen has won most of the international competitions for piano trios around the world.
In 2015, they were awarded Denmark's most prestigious music award during a televised performance of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Danish National Orchestra. 


"Hunt for the Wilderpeople"

Directed by Taika Waititi and based on the book by Barry Crump, "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" is an award-winning New Zealand film portraying a national manhunt ordered for a rebellious foster kid from the big city and a grouchy bushman in his sixties who go missing and how they are able to overcome their differences together in the wilderness.

"Hunt for the Wilderpeople" is rated PG-13.

Hope College Theatre: "Roustabout"
DeWitt Theatre

"Roustabout," a play by Jay Torrence and directed by, takes audiences back to 1918, and tells the sad story of the Hagenbeck Wallace Circus, which came to a show-stopping end when some of its railway cars collided with a U.S. military train. Torrence builds a narrative for those lives that were lost in history, and tells a story of the cost of war, the beauty of humanity and the power of redemption.

Art Exhibition: "Hateful Things"
Racial Healing and Equality

"Hateful Things" is a traveling sample from Ferris State University's Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia and features a collection of racist objects that trace the history of the stereotyping of African Americans. The exhibition contributes to and is in dialog with the scholarly examination of historical and contemporary expressions of racism and visual culture. It also seeks to promote racial understanding and healing.

The Music of Billy Strayhorn

The unique jazz duo of local vibraphonist Jim Cooper and Cincinnati pianist Phil Burkhead will be in concert at the Arts Council. The concert will spotlight the music of Billy Strayhorn as well as selections from Dave Brubeck and new, original music.  Cooper and Bulkhead  teach each summer at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camps. They hit it off both musically and personally-finding a common love for the the music of Billy Strayhorn.
