As summer blooms start to fad and fall descends upon us, how does your garden grow? Well-tended? Or left to fend for itself? Lee May, author of "In My Father's Garden" writes about the state of one's garden is a reflection of the gardener's state of mind. When your life is in upheaval thus the garden reflects the inattentiveness; but with the calm of heart so flourishes the garden. He writes, "A garden duplicates the stage for life's play.......and is akin to the flourishes and failures we experience over the years."       But oftentimes the garden's fate is out of our hands despite the tenderest of caring and nurturing thanks to intense weather conditions, pesky critters or seeds unable to thrive. Just like life.   But when all the stars align the rewards of your diligence are undeniably magical,  uplifting any bad karma day.    All is well in Twigs and Leaves Gallery's garden :=).

Our featured artist for September, Helen Sturgeon, captures with her wate
rcolors beautiful, garden flowers that are thriving. We not only sell her original paintings but also packs of greeting cards for you to share with someone special. I hope you are able to come watch at Art After Dark as she brings true life to canvas.

The gallery recently received notification of being awa rded #1 Haywood County gallery by Ashevi lle's "Mountain Xpress" for the ninth year in a row. We are blessed for the continued support of our wonderful customers and artists and we thank-you.

I wish everyone a fun and safe Labor Day Weekend. I hope that your travels will bring you to the mountains. The coming months are filled with special events so keep in touch through this newsletter, Facebook and our website.

And may your garden flourish (even if it is a household plant) as a reflection of your wellbeing.
All the best ~ Carrie

Ray Earnhardt
Metal Artist

Ray's art has been an evolution - initially focusing on useful everyday tools, made by hand and utilizing old - time methods, to a more decorative aesthetic art form depicting scenes in nature. He is fascinated with critters and plant life and through photography and quiet moments of study, has created these from recycled copper and steel using fire from a torch or his hand built forge.

Ray's artistic interests also include items derived from the French  and Indian War (1750's) and actively participates in annual reenactments. Preserving and respecting the crafts of our past is a deeply rooted passion of his and some of that definitely makes its way into his artwork.

Stop in the Gallery to see Ray's work.
