September/October 2016

The September/October issue of Kidney Chronicles features Peritoneal Dialysis (PD).

The Network has been working with facility staff to ensure that patients are educated about all of their treatment options.

Use this issue to ensure that patients know their options and how to compare modalities.  Education needs to be measured. Make sure that patients can articulate why they chose the treatment option they are on or why they did not want a treatment option. Help them be aware of their options, so that when asked - either by a State Surveyor or in an In-Center Hemodialysis Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (ICH CAHPS) questionnaire they will answer that they learned about PD at their dialysis clinic.

Published by the Network to help educate and inform patients, Kidney Chronicles, is a two-page, printable document available in both English  and Spanish versions. Please distribute this newsletter to patients, family members and care partners.

Providers:   Please print copies of Kidney Chronicles  to distribute to your patients, and encourage them to sign up for an electronic subscription.

Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) Members & Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Please (if possible) check with your dialysis facility staff to ensure that the newsletter is available for patients.
