Team DPS Top 5: How Are You Showing Your Character?

Today is Character Day, a global event when students and adults have the opportunity to join the conversation around character, focusing on who they are, who they want to be in the world and how to develop the whole child with a focus on personal success factors like resilience, grit, empathy, courage and kindness.

With one of our Denver Plan 2020 goals focused on building supports around the Whole Child, there has never been a better time to start these important conversations. W hat is your team doing? Take a second to share with us

Last week, we asked you to tell us about a time you saw one of our students demonstrating a positive character strength. Read the full Top 5 list here, and congratulations to our random giveaway winner, Mary Davenport from North High School:

"One day, the first week of school, I asked a student to stay after class who had said that since he was new, he was feeling so lonely and was therefore having a bad day. As I was checking in with him, another peer from his class came through the door, approached him, stuck out his hand for a shake, and said: 'I'm Carlos. Now you know someone.'  I was almost moved to tears at this student's empathy and kindness, and his courage to act on it."
